Awfully nice of you to be supportive of your Mom. Many of us don't have anyone who understands. I am lucky too and have a great husband and friends.
There are a couple of older threads that address you question very well. Do a search and look for The Best Supplements and one called Medication List. We all posted what we take, what works, what doesn't in those.
I hope some of it is helpful to your Mom.
Good Luck and Bless You for being such a good kid.
I have Fibro and Chronic Myofascial Pain, and have been taking Neurontin (300mg) for 3 months. I also take Percocet. I believe the Neurontin helps, did well on 2 a day but when upped to 3 a day had what I thought were side effects, back down to 2 and all okay again.
I always to pay close attention to med side effects as my body will usually tell me when my system is more out of whack than 'normal'.....tricky as Fibro has such a wide variety of symptons/problems.
I have read that many docs are prescribing Neurtontin for people with fibro. I hope it helps you.
Thank you for your response. I am currently at twice a day with a target of three times a day. I also take Relafen 1500mg/day for Osteoarthritis and Robaxin or Flexeril when needed. I wasn't sure about Neurontin because I noticed that not many people mentioned using it for FM.
I was on 3800mg. of Neurontin for seizures. Well--it was way too much and caused a gran mal seizure that landed me with stitches and a trip to the hospital. The Physicians Desk Reference (PDR) says to be careful when taking this medication as it can have an adverse effect.
I'm glad the low dose is helping you. I wouldn't let them increase it much more for you based on my experience with it.
