The Main Difference Between Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue

I've been researching on the net and very often 'Fibromyalgia' and 'Chronic Fatigue Syndrome' are used interchangebly. The list of symptoms seem the same.

So--what is the distinguishing feature between Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

There's got to be some difference.

Re: The Main Difference Between Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue

Ed,
My doc was always talking about both as one illness and I was very confused. I asked him to explain the differences and tell me which I have. He said that the only difference betwen Fibromylgia and Cronic Fatigue is that with Fibro there are the very definite pain points and these arer absent wirh CFS. He did say that all the other symptoms are similar and that CFS sufferers do get pain as well but not in the very specific areas as Fibro. I hope this helps.

Re: The Main Difference Between Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue

I have read several reports looking at Chronic Lyme Disease. In these descriptions all three of these "diseases" are described as possible causes of the same symptoms. They overlap - they don't even know whether they may all be the same thing...

Re: The Main Difference Between Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue

Thanks Argento--

Since I have chronic Lyme Disease, I've researched it, but never found the material you did. I wanted a definitive answer as to exactly what chronic Lyme Disease leads to, but the information was very sketchy or misleading.

Thanks for the much needed piece of information. It confirms my suspicions.
