Muscle Pain/Fatigue

Hi there,

I was talking with a friend of mine and she was describing to a T many of the shooting pains, numbness, burning, coming out of one's skin the way we all do. She doesn't have any illness whatsoever.

But she is an exerciseaholic. She had really bad eating disorders as a teen, twenty something and so the exercise was her replacement. She went to the doctor to see about her symptoms and the doctor told her she is exercising too hard. She told her to take at least one or two days off per week.

This got me to thinking as we were talking that maybe part of the whole fibro thing is that our bodies have that overuse/overexercise stress response but without the strenuous exercise. Like vacuuming can do it to me. Or standing for a few minutes.

That rules out their theory that we're all just out of shape or whatever. I just thought it was an interesting point that I am having the same pains and symptoms I would get if I tried to run a marathon every day as I do from little tasks.

So what do you guys think? - Andy

Re: Muscle Pain/Fatigue

Andy--

I agree. I can feel like a ran a marathon when I did nothing more than clean the house and walk the dog. A weekend out and I might as well collapse in a chair and be out of commision for a day or so.

I think the only thing that keeps me going is my dog and knowing I can get online and connect with the world. These days the cyber world is so much more communal than it used to be.

My symptoms of muscle pain and fatigue seem to go together. And I notice that after a flare I'm not energized to easily. It's as if the flare has exhausted me and I need a day or two to recoup.

My grandmother used to say: When your feet hurt, everything hurts. Well, my feet hurt and the rest of my pain is doubled. Some days I just sit and wonder why and how. Why and how what? Half the time I don't know. I just sit and watch mindless television, which I never did before getting the Lyme Disease and this.

Today I'm not even in the best of moods. A stranger was in the neighborhood and made a nasty comment about my dog and me. And--a gardener in the neighborhood called me a name in Spanish. I know what it means because I speak the language. So--my day didn't start out too well and since I know stress can do me in I'm trying to forget it. It just gets magnified, though because of all the stuff we have to put up with in a day--who needs that nonsense?

Thanks for letting me vent.
