Symptoms of Fibro? - Fibromyalgia Message Board

I am sorry to say that when I was diagnosised with fibromyalgia 9 years ago--I thought yeah, right.... This was partly due to my ignorance of the disease. I have had IBS for well over 15 yrs., the most severe of symptoms of fibro I have had for over 10 years--but, I chalked it up to getting older. Yesterday I went to my dr.s, with severe back pain. She told me she could see the muscles in my neck and lower back were 'knotted' and drawn tight. I am also being treated for severe depression and PTSD. Between this website and WebMD I realized I have every symptom and every tender point of fibro--to include the 'fibro fog', forgetfulness. Does anyone suffer from confusion, loss of concentration, the muscle tenderness and tightness and to me the worst is: looking at a tool or an appliance (that you use everyday) and for a brief 'scary' moment forgetting how to use it or even what you were going to use it for? I am using my husbands login, because I was did not want to waste time logging in--besides I would have probably forgotten what I wanted to ask by the time I got back. Does anyone else suffer from TMJ with this disease? I honestly do not know what to do at this point. I am 48 yrs. old and feel 98 most of the time---Little Bit

Yes, I sure have the Fibro fog at times. I try to combat it some by writing things down as soon as I think of it.....Yes, I do forget login and passwords too! So frustrating along iwth all the other issues....

They often treat with antidepressants. Are you taking meds for your depression? ask the doctor to look into using ones that also seem helpful for Fibro. (I have tried Amitryptilan and Trazadone and Celexa....so far not much help. Med side effect outweighed the benefits.) I take Vioxx for the joint issues....

Thank you kayakmom--Yes I am currently on Effexor for depression and Risperdal for sleep. I cannot remember the last time I actually slept the entire night through. Few hours here and there. Again thanks for the info.

Your symtoms describe mine, love the fog I get the light headed feeling with the fog, I call it a cheap drunk and never drank.Samething happens to me, I want to do something and monemtarily forget how to do it, put things in the fridge than belong in the cupbord and vica versa.
Forget what I am saying in a middle of a sentence, my hand writing is worse thsn DRS. cannot even read it myself.

This dd does so much to us besides all the pain.
