Think I need a new MD - Fibromyalgia Message Board

Hi all, first let me say Thanks to all for the help you have given me.

I talked to my reg doc, either he doesnt know alot about FM or he doesnt believe in it. He asked me what we should do, as if he didnt know how or what to treat. I dont know maybe he was just seeing how much I know about FM. He did put me on wellbutrin, I hope this works for me. He wont give me a "narcotic type" of pain killer, I told him that a narcotic type is not what I was asking for, just something to take the edge off the pain so I could at least do my dishes and not end up crying from the pain so he put me on Relafen. When I told him about the brain fog, he asked me what that was all about. I told him I thought it must me from the constant pain Im in. His respones was "huh, you think so".
I follow up with him 9/7. Going to take "the list" with so he has a visual list of what Im talking about. If he doesnt seem to know what he should do, Im asking for a referal to someone who does.

Hi Lady,

Sounds like you are taking control of the situation very well. I truly believe that many doctors just DON'T know what to do. Either they don't know anything about fibro or they don't know how to treat it. I'm starting to see a trend where it seems like neurologists are more helpful to fibromites than rheumys. The rheumys diagnose you and then send you back to the PCP for treatment but the neurys keep you on their plan.

Good luck with the list. My doctor thought my fog was meds at first but since I've been off everything this pregnancy and I'm still just as impaired she believes me now.
