Hmmmm, Cymbalta - Fibromyalgia Message Board

Hi all, My doc wanted me to see a phycologist{sp}. Well after talking to him he sent a letter to my reg doc and suggested Cymbalta. I took the first pill last night. I sure hope this works for me, I know it is hit and miss for people with fibro. I just wish it didnt take 1 to 2 weeks before you can tell if its really going to help me. Ill let y'all know how it goes for me on this med.

I've made some other posts lately about this drug. I am very happy so far with it. If you can just be patient and give it time to work and work past the initial side effects, it may turn out to work for you as it did for me. I absolutely hate taking medicine of any kind and have always had trouble dealing with the side effects. But this fibro pain was something I hated even worse, so I made myself stick this treatment out and I think it just might be the help I needed so badly!!

Well so much for that med. My insurance doesnt cover it, and it cost 286.00 for 30 pills. Guess Im back to where I started. O well life goes on, just a little slower.

If your insurance doesn't cover it, can you have your doctor request the insurance to cover it for you? Alot of times the ins. company will then OK it.

My insurance will not cover Cymbalta either at this time. I made the decision to go ahead and take it since my rheumy recommended it so highly. The reason my insurance won't cover is that it is so new (only out 3 months now). Evidently my policy won't cover any new drug until it has been on the market for 6 months. I am going through Walgreen's pharmacy and paying $123 a month for 30 pills of 60 mg each. My insurance assures me that starting in February 2005 they will pick up and start paying it. I figured if it didn't work I'd know after the first month and not waste my money, but I've been so happy with the results, I'm going to keep paying out of my own pocket until February. It's well worth it to feel as good as I am feeling now!

I know a lot of people can't do that, but you might check back with your insurance and see when it will be covered.
