Question HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

HI there, new at this as well. Im a mom of 4 and stay at home, I am overweight, have been diagnosed with FMS, and TACYCARDIA. My husband is out of town frequently, and for about 3 weeks now, I have been nauseated before I eat , when I eat and sometimes after I eat. I am concerned, because for months now, I have had sharp stabbing pains in my shoulders? Then radiates toward the shouder blade area~ Not only that I have had dull stabbing pains off and on under my left breast, feels like it is under my left rib cage? I went to see Womens DR, and was sent to get a mamogram, all clear~ Tonight though, sad, and despressed with husband gone and 4 kids home, fussing, fighting, etc.. ( just being kids) I was sitting on the couch eating dinner, I started feeling sick, and after I ate I suddenly got a sharp pain in my left side of my chest??!!! Now, Im scared, I got that sick, scared feeling like am I dying? It felt so scarey. I am feeling very stressed, and am so scared. I am scared because , of being over weight. I had a friend who had a heart attack at age 30, and Im going to be thirty in a few more days~ Can anyone relate to any of this? I just dont know who to go and see about this at all? Everytime I have problems, I get thrown over and told oh, its your fibromyalgia~ HELP, Im a desperate mom of 4 who doesnt want to die!! Im miserable at this point and time~
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Re: HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

Hiya Mandiee,

Please don't be scared. I have had two heart attacks, and honestly I can say this doesn't sound like that to me. Hope this puts your mind at rest a little.

Maybe you have costochondritis, this is inflammation in the rib cage, can be with or without fibromyalgia symptoms. Mention this next time you go to the doctor. Although I must say the radiating pain in your back down to your shoulder blades does sound a bit like fibro type of symptom to me, but only because I have the same.

I am not a medical doctor, but only say this because of your symptoms and because you are so frightened. Have you been checked for gastric problems? I found out I had inflammation of the gullet when I was having the same problems as you, the feeling sick before and after food and actually being sick and so on. I have also found that if I sit on an easy chair or couch and use a lap tray when having my dinner, I feel uncomfortable. I know it's not always possible to sit at the table and eat, especially with your children, but sitting more upright is so much better for your digestion. I always try to remember to have a glass of water, and take sips of it during my meal. These may sound silly little things, but honestly they make your digestion much better.

I know that when you are own your own so much (because I am too) when things happen, they seem to intensify because you know that there is nobody in the house with you. It causes so much stress to your system that everything intensifies. Are you able to telephone a relative or friend when you get scared? I do understand if you can't because I don't have any family apart from my husband, so I do know what it's like to be in the position of being on your own. Your pains and your fear are all very real and for your docs to pass you over is dreadful. I don't know where you live, but I am in the UK and it is so difficult to get to see a doctor out of your health authority area. You know there are good doctors out there who can help you but you can't get to see them.

I hope that I have been able to help in some small way. and if you want to know anything else, please let me know. Mandiee I totally feel for you and hope that you come back and talk some more.

Re: HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

Have you been checked for gallbladder problems. Generally it goes around the right side. But the times I had bad attacks is would radiate around my whole chest. It would tighten and release much like labor. When my dad had attacks they put him in CCU thinking it was his heart. In both our cases a ultrasound found nothing wrong. We had a hyda scan and found that the gall bladder was not functioning and actually diseased. Eating was the initial trigger. Then the nights got really bad with pain that woke me, vomiting, etc. Especially with foods higher in fat such as beef. Now my 18 year old daughter having problems. Hyda scan shows her's is not functioning as it should. She has lots of nausea and pain.

Re: HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

Manda,

To me, that sounds like anxiety attacks. Is that possible? I seemed to have developed major anxiety when my fibro symptoms first started appearing. I'm now taking Zoloft. I find when I am alone, my anixety levels are higher. I couldn't eat properly for weeks because I was always nauseous from being so anxious. I also felt so scared that I was having a heart attack or something (I'm only 24) and found it hard to breathe. Is it possible for you to talk to your doctor about this? It might help to hear from a medical professional what exactly the problem could be. I agree with Goldenwings -- do you have friends or family you can call when you're really not feeling well?

Good Luck

Thumbs up Re: HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

Hello all and 1st and foremost thank you so much for listening to me and being so helpful!! I called my husband today, (he is 5 hours away) and explained what is going on, and how this morning, same as the past weeks, Im am just plain nauseated~ He said that he would call his boss, (owner of company) and try and get off, and much to both of our surprise he said yes! It will be 4 more days, but I think I can manage, afterall I have been dealing with thid for awhile now. I do think I could any one of the many things you all described, and didnt really think about eating in a slumpped position, but that does sound right, how can your digestive system work properly when all squished up~ I also read several posts last night regarding the rib inflamation, I cannot pronounce that name, and I am going to print out alot of info on all that you have come up with and listed. YES! I definatly think that aniexty is a problem, I was devestated last night being left once again with 4 children on my own~ As far as calling a friend or family member, Im sad to say NO, that is what I have done in the past, but they tend to turn away when its about being in pain, and hurting or sick, and my brothers have gone so far as to say Im a hypocondriac , and that "What isnt worng with you?" So, with that kind of support I think I'll just stay away~ Then I think, and I also pray to God please dont let me run my husband away, he is uch a good , kind understanding man. Thats scarey too, I have read so many times where loved ones are lost due to Fibromyalgia. I have to say you all have helped me out emmensly (sp?) and I am extremely thankful from the bottem of my heart~ I would like to continue to be a part of efibro, and keep updates, and get to know you all. Its strange isnt it? One minute you seemed to be living a normal life and the next you life is turned upside down and miserable, and with something that has no cure. How can there be such a "thing" out there that involves so many problems, and symptoms and makes all of us so miserable. It is just plain sad~
I hope you all have a good day, better than your last~ God Bless and Thank you again~ [ please carefully review the posting rules - no emails ]~

Amanda

Re: HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

Hiya Amanda,

I am so pleased that you were able to think about the things that were suggested to you. It's so great that your husband is coming home early for you. That hopefully will make things a little less stressful for you. I can only say again about the sitting at the table for meals, try it and see how you feel, at least if it helps, that's one less thing for you to worry about. You do seem a bit more positive now, and I'm glad for you. As I said before Amanda, don't worry that it is a heart attack, I'm positive it's not.

Come here for your support if you can, just to be able to talk about things is a great help I think.

Great to talk to you.

Very interesting post about YEAST, I have tried that as well, and ??? Didnt seem to do much? I can try again though all these up beat and positive posts really get me going, I know it may only cure some symptoms, but to me thats a load off in itself, I am willing to do anything! Plus as Im typing Id just like to ask, what can we do for the facial pains? This just started recently as well, and my checks bones continuously hurt~ I appreciate any help~
Thanks so much for all that you have helped with so far~

Re: HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

I also gree that you might be having anxiety attacks. If you are feeling like you are going to dye and if you heart is racing this could be the cause. I would suggest when it happens that you call someone or watch tv, preferably something funny, lol, to help you take your mind off it! Well that's what helps me and try to find a doctor that can help!! Also stress causes anxiety and when the kids are fighting, no husband at home, and health problems that is all the stress you need. Take care, Danielle

Re: HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

Hi,

I used to have those chest pains too. They would start in the center of the chest near the breast bone. The pain for me would then migrate towards the chin. I felt like I was going to die; like I wouldn't be able to breathe any more. About 20 years ago, when I first started getting these pains, I experimented with calcium pills and I found that those worked. Later I also found that by taking deep deep breaths to the extreme, that the stretching of the muscles and tissues helped too.

About 10 years or more, I discovered a link to my fibromyalgia symptoms to my mercury-silver dental amalgams. I had all of them replaced with less toxic "white fillings". I'm pretty sure these white fillings that I had put in the place of the metal fillings were porcelain, which I've found is one of the best. Do you have mercury-silver dental amalgams that dentists often call "silver" fillings?

This is controversial because a lot of the dental community is only offering select information or is not telling us everything about this toxin that they put in our mouths. So I won't debate the safety of these mercury fillings at this time, but just tell you what happened to me. Thousands of people also have been cured or found their health significantly improved after the amalgams were removed. These are documented cases that have been reported by DAMS (Dental Amalgam Mercury Syndrome).

I write about this all the time. If you have any questions, I'd be glad to help.

Re: HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

I read a fibro book last week that mentioned mercury fillings. I was considering speaking to my dentist about it next time I go in, but the article also said that the removal of mercury fillings for porcelain ones can release more gases and toxins, making it worse for the body. Is that true?

Re: HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

Hi Manda. I could be totally way off base, but this sounds a lot like reflux. You'd be surprised at the weird symptoms of reflux - not always the typical "heartburn." Anyway, that was my gut instinct when you posted. I'm a medical transcriptionist, so I have a lot of experience with this, as well as being a reflux sufferer myself. Maybe try some Zantac 30 minutes before meals and see if that helps.

It could also be the other things people mentioned, but I highly doubt heart problems being the cause.

Re: HELP, Im scared is this FIBRO or a HEART ATTACK?

Hi kcgage,

Yes, it's true that when you are having the mercury fillings removed, that you are exposed to more mercury. To diminish that affect, it's very important that you have the proper ventilation and are using a dental dam. I had asked for a dental dam. It neatly fits around the one tooth they are working on, preventing mercury particles from going down. But there is lots of mercury vapor, so the dentist has to be careful.

I'm reading more and more about how some people feel that mercury fillings can greatly contribute to having fibromyalgia symptoms. I know that was my experience....

Rhody,

Did you have your mercury fillings removed? If so, did you notice a big difference in your FM symptoms?
