| Re: Why are people with FM getting so...well... FAT?
hi luv and tutough,
how much water do you drink? most of the time the feeling we associate with hunger is thirst. i drink at least 8 (and usually 10) 24oz bottles of water a day. i delight in sugar and all the many forms it comes in. from two teaspoons in my one cup of coffee a day to baking goodies and any candy that combines chocolate and peanut butter.
being able to eat is an issue for my body. i love to cook. i find fullness in the act of creating sustanance for others and eat very little. baking is a different story.
my weight is steady. exercise makes all the difference. i usually eat one healthy meal a day and be happy with whatever my body will allow down my throat, usually sugar or popcorn.
my friends who know how much candy i eat marvel that i can weigh in at 160. sure it's a bit more than youthful weight, giggle. i swim, walk, garden and find ways to have my cake and eat it too!! fortunatly when i am too weak to be active my appetite leaves. no food, no candy. just lots and lots of water.
i am one of the fortunate ones. depression is not a contributing factor. nothing feeds depression like eating or sitting on you butt. depression craves your participation.
some meds do cause the side effect carb craving. i do not take them. i went from 140 to 200 lbs the first year i had fms. told the doc and his little happy pills to take a hike. if it causes a side effect that actually keeps you sick, why take it?
the tricyclics and a few other meds for depression and/or sleep are well known for that.
call your pharmacist and ask her/him about your meds.
luv has shown you the cycle that will take you away from where you wish to be.
i doubt i will ever give up my love affair with sugar. staying active assures i will be able to eat goodies tomorrow!
peace,
bluelakelady
