I have some questions about FM - Fibromyalgia Message Board

Hi, I just found this site and I have some questions. I have never been officially diagnosed with FM but my mom had her Dr. tell her that she had it. Apparantly there are no actually tests? Is that true?
I was seeing a medical massage therepist who said I had all the trigger points for FM. I have IBS with constipation and awful gas as well.

I am pregnant now and I am miserable. I love to exercise but PG makes it impossible for me. When I am not pg I manage my energy, pain and my IBS for the most part with a very vigerouse fit lifestyle and clean eating. The only problems I have usually is the tight painful upper back muscles and upper buttock muscles when I am fit. I also have noticed that my upper thighs always feel bruised. That has been going on for years.

My mom (and it seems I am following in her footsteps) had trouble with labor too. Our contractions never regulate and pitocin was necessary for 3 of her 4 labors and my first one. I wondered if the FM affected the uterus as well? Have any of you heard of this?

I do really well with caffine as I have seen some of you comment on. I need it to feel alive. I have pleanty of energy when I am able to live my normal active life, but the minute I stop, I crash. I do not have trouble sleeping normally. My eyes do get tired easily. I get headaches frequently and I have trouble increasing flexability.

I would really love some input. Thank you.

hi there, i maybe have fibro. think my symptoms started after birth. but when i loook back i had a lot of little mild one before. when i was pregnant my hips killed in bed and had to keep swapping sides. found out i had group b strep after. my labour was fine, from estabilished laboutr 2-3 cm it took 4 and half hours and my son was born, no pain relief! they say each child is different? love april x

Thanks for that, I was just curious. I have the worst pain imaginable in my hips durring pregnancy. When I was working I had to get my husband to help me out of the car when I got home. I could barely walk and was in tears. My OB said it was normal. I have never met anyone who had to deal with that intense pain. I have never been a wimp about pain, if I am crying it is bad.

What about the rest of my symptoms? Do they sound like any that you all have experienced?

In both of my pregnancies I had to be induced (water broke, but the contractions were sporadic). I pushed for 5 hours with the first, and 3 with the second...they finally had to use forceps both times, but both of my sons had heads in the 95th percentile. I had an epidural with both, which I'm sure contributed to the difficulty pushing. However, both are very healthy, and that's what matters. I nursed both times, which I think is VERY hard on the body (sleep deprivation, robs you of nutrients), but I'm hoping it will provide my sons a better start in life than I had! Oh, and my hips hurt, as did my rib cage, during pregnancy, and they still give me trouble, but not as bad.
