Red face Cymbalta and stomach pain

I was diagnosed, finally, with Fibro this past week, and my Dr gave me samples of Cymbalta, but no matter when I take it, or how I take it, it really hurts my stomach. I'm never good with taking pills, and I have to take most pills with food, or I get incredible pain in my stomach. The directions say to take it "with no regard to meals"... I've taken it on an empty stomach, right before eating, in the middle of a meal, and after a meal... the pain just gets worse each day that I take it.

I had a similar pain when I was taking citrical calcium supplements, and those are really hard on the digestive system. I had to just stop taking them.

I'm wondering if this is a side effect that's going to go away, or if I have to just stop taking the Cymbalta. Any thoughts??

Re: Cymbalta and stomach pain

I think if I were you, I would just talk to your doc about stopping the cymbalta all together. Why put yourself through that?I am going on my 4th week of cymbalta and am currently suffering from some pretty bad nausea.and it does not appear to be really having an impact on my nerve pain syndromes either.i go back at the end of the 4 weeks and see my doc about whether I want to continue onto the thereputic dose of 60mgs or stop it.i think I am going to be DCing it at that time.It is actually making some of my nerve pain symptoms worse, not better.the choice is up to you, whether you want to keep feeling this way or possibly trying something else that may work better for you.As for me, I think i will be moving on to something else,i just don't know what that will be yet, lol.

Re: Cymbalta and stomach pain

I decided yesterday to just stop. I don't think that my pain is as bad as most people's, and I'd rather look into nutrition and vitamins instead... for now.

I think if I took one more of those things I'd have a hole in my stomach!
