Re: fibro vs. sciatica

I recently left my rhuematologist and found a wonderful Pain Specialist. I've recieved steroid shots in the sciatica which helped 100% for 2 days but I didn't pace myself or I think it would have lasted much longer. My new Dr. also took me off the Duragesic pain patch and put me on Avinza which is working wonderfully for me. I hope this information may be helpful to someone.

Re: fibro vs. sciatica

welcome jan!
i am so glad you found us. sometimes the shots have to be done a couple of times for lasting relief. i had shots in my hip, 7 of them, about 27 years ago. the relief lasted just over 10 years. i cannot have any more shots in my hip, so these days i go for therapy 2 days a week.
i am delighted you found a doctor who is helpful.
peace,
bluelakelady

Re: fibro vs. sciatica

Hi Jan, have a little more time this morning. I have had sciatica, but have not had the shots for that. Went to pt for months though and still have to do the stretching exercises. It seems keeping my legs and hips stretched really does the trick for me.

I have recieved the shots in my shoulder when it was frozen, went down in the joint and it really helped took about a week for it to fully kick in.
