Cymbalta - Fibromyalgia Message Board

Havent' been on this board for awhile and when i am just reading. Can anyone here take Cymbalta and can you tell me your experiences with it? I am very sensitive to drugs amd have been on Ultram but had a new dr. tell me this was the new drug out for Fibro. and also a friend that has just statrted taking this and says it has helped alot. So would like to find out everything anyone knows good or bad about it. Thnaks so much.

I started taking it back in Sept. or late Aug. would have to look at old bottle. Anyway, so far so good. I can't say no pain, but I think it's helped some. I won't quite swear to it, you know the pains, ebb and flow as they want to. But anyway, I haven't has any side effects, unless I can blame my dry mouth on it. My shrink told me it's an anti depressant that's been shown to help with fibro pain, let's hope.

I just started taking Cymbalta this past Saturday, so I've been on it a whole 3 days now. So far, I'm touting it as my new miracle drug. My doctor is starting me out on 30 mg for a month, then it will increase to 60 mg a day.

My pain has greatly diminished.

I'm sleeping better at night and actually waking up in the morning a lot quicker. (It used to take me at least an hour to wake up, now it's down to 20-30 minutes from when the alarm goes off until I can actually get out of bed.)

My mood is so much better. (Just ask my husband!)

My sex drive is also returning.

My fibro fog seems to have diminished a little too.

One side effect is loss of appetite. That's great news for me! Maybe I'll finally be able to lose some of this weight that I've put on over the last couple of years.

I've heard that it can also cause nausea, but I haven't experienced that. So for now, I'm definitely singing the praises of Cymbalta!

Thanks so much Kris and April for your reply. I am going to ask my dr. for this when i go back in. I am always afraid of all the side effects of anything new. Because if it has side effects i usually get them

That's great. I have a bottle now for 3 months but i haven't taken it, i just stare at it afraid to try it. aneuro gave me free samples but i can't take it without pain managment doc's approval and i didn't want to take it becauxe all anti depressents make my psycho. all of them, i've tried 8 different ones in the last 4 years and i'm a loon on every one, they scare me. but the weight loss..hmmm i need that. this fibro put a ton on me. i'll ask my pain doc and see what she says.........thanks for the info
