Have any of you experienced this?

You'll have to forgive me I didn't know what else to name this post.
I went to Longveiw today to pick up my percocet prescription and I guess we're all the same, afternoons are better for us than mornings? Anyway, while over there I also picked up some samples at my shrinks office. I got back to my drug store here in Marshall about 3 p.m. I drive up to their drive thru window, I put the prescription in the little drawer and asked how much it would be and how long did he think it would take to fill. You know what he says to me? We have a problem. We? My dr. had wrote it for 60 pills, he wrote #60, just like that, that wasn't good enought, he should have also spelled out sixty! Can you believe that? It wasn't the last time. My drs. office was closing at 4 ugh! I called the dr. office and told the receptionist I needed help and what that help was, she's never heard of the amount of pills having to be spelled out before either. Like I felt like driving to Longveiw twice in 1 day. Luckily I got there in plenty of time. Why would the pharmist do that to me for? And I still have to wait til in the morning to get the darn pills because I didn't have 5 extra $ to get them, but wait, if I hadn't had to go back to Longveiw and put in more gas, $5.00 worth of gas, I could have gotten them. I am taking the hydrocodone til in the morning, it does at least touch the pain, although that's all it does to it.
Now, I ask you, have any of you experienced this with a drug store? A druggest?

Re: Have any of you experienced this?

Sorry you had a problem at the pharmacist. I read stories all the time about this issue. I usually post at the Pain Managment board and its filled with pharmacy stories. First is, Percocet (Oxycodone) Is a schedule 2 med, meaning that it is watched closely by the DEA. More often however, I read that some pharmacist is going to put there 2 cents into your prescription and if you need it or not. I think its wrong. If your Dr prescribeds it, your pharmacy should fill it.

I have several medical problems with my spine and have severe FM. So I see the pharmacist 1-2 times a month. I go to a privately owned pharamacy (mom and pop). I know the pharmacist well there and he knows me. I have never ran into any issue about my meds which are Morphine 100mg x2 daily, Oxy IR, Soma, and Ambien. My scripts are always filled within 10 minutes or so.

It seems that I hear these stories when people use commericial pharmacies. The mom and pop stores are there bread and butter. They prefer to hang onto customers. A pharmacy can require what ever documentation they like to fill a scheduled med. I just find that if you know the pharmacist on a first name basis, it makes his/her job easier. Pharmacies do get frauded daily so some have extra security measures in place. If my pharmacist ever had a question he would just ask me, or maybe call the DR.

Sorry about your experience there. Hope this answered your question.

Take Care

Re: Have any of you experienced this?

Thanks. I wondered what was up with them. I used Wal-Greens now. I was using as you put it a mom and pop style drug store, but I sure like Wal-Greens hours better. The small one closes at like 5 during the week and at either 11 or 12 on Sat. I like to go when I feel more like it rather than having to go during certain hours. Maybe now that they said they want the # spelled out along with the actual # they won't find anything else to pick on my scripts about. Hopefully. I'm like you though, if the dr. says a person has to have a med or needs to have that particualr med., no one should have any say in the matter. It's not like we take meds for the fun of it, although yeah I know, some people do, but...
Anyway, thanks

Re: Have any of you experienced this?

Hi,

I know how that feels. Haven't had exactly the same problem, but have had pharmacist withhold a pain med Rx because I was already on one pain med.
He kept saying he was right, that insurance wouldn't cover the second one.
this, despite the fact that I'd had these two filled for years (same pharmacy, nasty pharmacist).
I had him call the doc. But it made me feel awful, since he was intimating that I was abusing meds....

Hope it's cleared up for you for good now.

Re: Have any of you experienced this?

Oh, I could sing songs about horrible pharmacies. they are the worst, i've been called a drug addict in front of other customers since i take so much, i've had pharmacies refuse to refill it until the exact 30 day mark even though doct says its ok and insurance says it's OK. my doc finally had to yell at pharmacist to fill script once. they think they are in control, but they're not. they hate giving out opiots and lvoe to give problems. i can't tell you how many times i've switched pharmacies i'm with one now who is a sweetheart for she takes them too and understands. one pharmasist wouldn't give me mine for 5 days over christmas and i couldn't get ahold of doctors office, and i had to go to ER because of him. also, count your pills, wallgreen shorted me 100 one time i count them right in front of them, turns out the tech was taking pills. she got fired on the spot. nothing but problems with wallgreens.
