Scary experience, any of you had this happen before? - Fibromyalgia Message Board

There was a snow storm thanksgiving morning and the pressure in the area did some funky thing, not sure if it went up or down but i woke up in so much pain from my hips down to my toes it wasnt even funny. The next non-funny thing was that my legs wouldnt hold me up, i was completely paralyzed durin this moment form the waste down.

This threw me into a complete panic attack and then an asthma attack but i got through those with my inhailor and about 2 hours of crying.

I'm just wondering if anyone experience the above or could explain any of it. I do have some CNS issues and may have lupus as well, am diagnosed with fibro. I'm just completely confused on what happend that day so if anyone can clear up this issue with me i'd be greatful for you.

Yes I have .. not quite as severe as yours, but when ever we have a front move in.. or as I say the barometer moves I have pain... usually its like this.. it goes up .. i hurt from waist up .. it goes down .. i hurt from waist down.. excrutiating pain ... i lay in bed and scream.. the only thing i have found that helps me is to fold my electric blanket in two and crawl in and turn it on high - both sides and large doses of my pain killers and muscle relaxants

I have more pain when the barometer moves also, but never have I had the paralyzing thing going on. Just more hip pain and joint pain.

i once spent 6 months in bed and a wheelchair. that was at the beginning. i am happy to report i have not had a cycle that severe since. that was almost 11 years ago. i finally got happy and gave my wheelchair away this past june to an elderly woman who had become housebound.
relax, this too shall pass. that is the very cool thing about fibro. no matter what is going on in your body today by tomorrow something else will be demanding all your attention.

So true that fibro changes from day to day.

I understand the extreme pain in the legs. THe only time I felt paralyzed was after I had moved. I decided to lay down and could not get up. My body was in so much pain. I had shoved it into the back of my mind. I know that some of it was pure exhaustion. It was scary, my hubby had to come and help me get up and out of my whirling mind. I do not know if I could have gotten up if the house was on fire. Sounds overly dramatic but I remember that helpless feeling.

Sometimes there are no answers and our bodies heal themselves.
