hi everybody ,has any one have both tmj and
Fibromyalgia and how the Fibromyalgia affect the tmj to feel ok again do i have to suffer the tmj all the life long i am so scared??!!

Hi Mooaa:

TMJ is a very common symptom in people in fibromyalgia. Do not be frightened. Knowledge if power. What helped me alot with TMJ is an appliance the dentist made for my mouth which kept me from biting down wrong. The other thing that helped is this same dentist referred me to a dentist at a pain clinic at a local hospital. This dentist did a lot of physical therapy in conjunction with what my general dentist did with the appliance. He also gave me botox injections to relax the muscles as I had trigemenal neralgia, and a lot of muscle spasm in my face, neck and shoulders. The botox paralyzed the muscles which gave them a chance to rest. This therapy seemed to lessen the inflammation. Do you have a dentist?

I alo have tmj, I was dxed with that several years before the fm. Makes you wonder what pain is from what, these dd overlap one another in symtons.

hi i am sorry i did not relpy for long time i am in too much pain in the jaw and the neck
i have a dentist but this is my second flare so i did not receive any treatment yet because i have neck disc prblem and myofacial pain and fibro in my neck and shoulders i got it from my first treatment so i am afraid to have something new if i have the slpint therapy again this time i am very afraid and do not know what to do?
kirstee do u feel normal again after u did all this things ?and how do u feel about your jaw muscle does it weak when chewing and r u able to talk ?

Hi there,
I have tmj- have had it all my life. Dx w/ fibro for a few years too. Up until this year, I just dealt with pain of tmj. I get awful headaches (stabbing pain from my temporomandibular joint) and often will wake up aching! I started going to a chiropractor and it has been AMAZING! He adjusts my jaw with an "activator" (which he uses for the rest of my spine, too) and it doesn't hurt in the slightest. It resets my jaw and makes a world of difference. I have to be more gentle with it afterward to keep it from "popping" out of place again, but for the most part it hasn't been hard to do so. If you google "activator" and chiropractor you could find more info.
