It can be done.....Really!

I know we all ache and pain and get stressed about projects and things around our house we don't feel like doing. I'm here to tell you it can be done, you can get those little (or big) projects done. You will most likely have to take it easy for a few days afterward, but it can be done.

Long story short, my brother is moving and I have several things I have been storing for him. Between his things, the things my daughter brought with her after her divorce and our things, our basement and lower level room were a DISASTER. I couldn't take it any longer, and I needed to root out all the things for my brother.

Braveman (my hubby for all the newbies) and I had bought two new metel storage shelving units right before his illness. And there they have sat against the wall behind the door waiting to be assembled for all these months. I started on Friday removing all the junk from the affected basement area and assembling the shelves. I would work for about 2hrs. and rest about 2hrs.

It worked to do just that cause Sat. I was still feeling fine. I had thought the fibro would kick my fanny on Sat. but it wasn't even whimpering. So i started in again and worked the entire day and finished both areas.

Today I am sore but my joints are feeling great and I will say they were pretty painful before I started. Muscles hurt but I don't care the feeling of satisfaction is there and I have muscle relaxers to take.

My daughter did help with some of the heavy stuff and braveman did help some, but he is still weak and his brain is still a little fried from the chemo so he isn't quick thinking yet and I didn't have the time or patience to let him help too much (sorry braveman). I was on a roll and I didn't want to be slowed down.

I really did not think I could sustain that much physical work but I made it. I couldn't do it everyday and I am sore and going to have to rest for a few days but what a great stress reliever. It can be done!

Hey blue you are always doing this kind of thing it works!

Glojer, this goes to show us how purpose and drive can outdo
even fibro. The longer we sit and wish things were done, the more
stress takes over and before we know what has happened, we are
in a dark funk that makes the pain unbearable. Thanks for the
reminder, I needed it!!!I'll bet Blue will have a new dance for you and
maybe she'll invite the gang to join her. Love you,
Bilij

HIya Glojer,

Wow, you did it girl !! Isn't it a wonderful feeling too that you get when you look at it later and say "I did that". You have worked out the best way to do it for you and I think this way is the best way for me too. I get totally exhausted after a while, and it is such a drag to leave things until I feel able to have another go, maybe tomorrow hee hee !! No matter how long it takes us though, in the end I think it is such a buzz knowing we did it.

Take care and love to braveman.

Re: It can be done.....Really!

well done glojer!! i do things the same way, rest a bit, work a bit. yes that feeling of sore muscles is so much nicer than the stress of wanting the job done. just for you i think i will do the funky chicken and a cartwheel. come on bilij, i will teach it to you, the dance that is, giggle. actually, if you ever watched a rooster strut you can do the dance, tee hee!
hey! now we can throw a dance party in your basement! giggle. i am off to play with my new art tool. teaching myself something new takes my mind away from pain and into playworld. i am teaching myself to carve wood.
i am really proud of you glojer. give braveman a big hug for me. coming back is a slow process.
love,
blue

Re: It can be done.....Really!

Hi bilij, golden and blue,

You all make my heart laugh! Yes, bilij looking at that mess was stressing me to no end. I just couldn't get to it with all the health 'stuff' these past months. And it just kept pileing up and I thought it would be too big of a job for me. I underestimated myself, cause once I got started I could see progress and realized I would be OK even if I did get a little sore. Maybe a lot sore. I think stopping to rest and working at a slower pace was the key to the whole thing.

Blue so glad you are keeping up with the wood carving, it is great to have such an artistic outlet. You are a talented person that way and having those outlets can be great therapy for you.

Golden I am like you, I get so exhausted and want to leave everything for the next day. Some little gremlin got into me and I couldn't stop this time or leave anything for the next day. It was like I had to keep going. Very reminiscent of the 'old days' as they say.

Love

Glojer
