SORE? stomach

Okay, I'm having a problem and I'm hoping SOMEONE knows what I'm talking about!! Because no one understands around here!

Okay, so, I'm having constant pains in the stomach area and it won't go away. Now, it's not nausea or any kind of upset stomach. It's not, persay, on the INSIDE. I can eat just fine, I don't throw up, certain foods don't make it better or worse. My stomach is just . . . sore. You know how our muscles hurt. Well, isn't our stomach a muscle? Could it hurt like any of my other muscles? And it's not just my "abdominal area" it's...my STOMACH!

Anyone else have any enlightening words, advice, or understand at all? This is so frustrating. One pain I've always hated more than anything is pain in my stomach and abdominal area. It drives me nuts. And nothing helps but laying down and a heat pack. But I can't do that all day every day!

HELP!

Re: SORE? stomach

Hi GG4E,

Can you describe exactly where your pain is, in relation to landmarks like your ribs & belly button?

Is there any variation in the soreness at all over the course of a day? Any time you notice it more? Or less? Does it wake you up at night? Any variation over the course of your menstrual cycle?

What happens if you poke the area with your finger? Is it tender to the touch?

If you drink a lot of water at one time (2 cups), do you notice anything?

Have you tried taking an antacid? Any effect?

Best wishes.

Ahhh! Lots of questions! lol, that's okay, here we go with the answers.

Okay, exactly where it is? Right below my ribs I guess. Higher than right above my belly button (that's where I feel my IBS pain).

Variations throughout day? Um, not so much. It doesn't hurt as much if I'm lying down with heat. It doesn't not wake me up at night and it doesn't seem to have any thing to do with my menstrual cycle.

Okay, lemme poke it (it's so funny, I'm sitting here with my shirt up doing all these weird things, like figuring out where it is in relation to things and poking it. I'm sure I look silly!). Okay, it doesn't HURT HURT when I poke it, but it is a bit uncomfortable in a sore way.

Um, drinking a lot of water at one time doesn't seem to do anything to it, no.

Yes, I've tried the antacids, no affect.

I think I got all your questions!

God bless!

Re: SORE? stomach

MSBS,

YOU UNDERSTAND!!!! YEA!

I've always been horrible at DESCRIBING pain, but you get it, you understand! I love you! lol Sorry you have to feel this horrible thing though!

I'm in the small, but growing, town of Arnold. In fact, you should head up here on FMS Awareness Day to the Wal-Mart where I will be doing that fundraiser that you can read about in the thread "I'm Back -- and with crazy news!"

God bless!

Re: SORE? stomach

Hi GG4E,

What (& how much, how often) are you using for general fibro pain relief? Many OTC drugs (Motrin, Advil, Aspirin, Tylenol) can contribute to the gut pain you've described.

I would ask the doc about this pain. Lots of things it could be. Liver or spleen inflammation (spleen inflam is common w/mono, which can be a chronic thing). A gall bladder problem (they've been finding it a lot in young women).

But maybe it will go away on its own. Hope so.

Best wishes.

Re: SORE? stomach

Hey all, I have this same sounding pain and discovered by accident (from doing another procedure) that I have a small hiatal hernia that just seems to be achy a lot, especially when I am flaring it is non stop. Strange......lol

Re: SORE? stomach

Hi Julie,
I get that sore stomach off and on, it can lasts for days. I feel like someone punched me. It is sore to touch and like you no food makes it worse or better, no nausea either just sore. Mine starts as the ribs come out from the sternum it is that entire area and my ribs get realy tender with, when I bend it feels like a like a large ball is in it. I know it definately is not gas, tried gas x etc, no help at all.

I think it is spasms, sometimes I get a quivering sensation with this. Try a heat pak that helps some.

Hugs, Linda
