other autoimmune problems along with fibro

hi everybody, well, for about a month now, on the top of my left foot ive had horrible pain and swelling. Rhuemie said it might be a neuroma? so will be going to see an ortho to see if i can get cortisone shots, if that doesnt help surgery is the only other option to fix it.

also while doing my blood work with the rhuemie, they have noticed blood in the urine numerous times. I just finished a 24 hour urine collection test and dropped it off this morning. No sooner had i gotten home than i received a phone call from the docs office. They said the urine showed more blood cells in it than what ive been showing (i cant see the blood), plus they asked me to come in and take ANOTHER creatine (?) reactive protein test because the one they took last week was super high. I asked what was going on and they said they are testing my kidneys and or inflammation in the body. They also said if the test was super high again, they might have to do a kidney biopsy, worst case scenerio is getting a kidney transplant due to failing kidneys. i think what they said is they might be failing due to inflammation. im wondering ( i know there is no inflammation with fibro) if this is somehow related to fibro tho and if anyone here has had any other type of health problems that you feel fibro is attributing to?
thanks for your help
Jen

Re: other autoimmune problems along with fibro

hi jen,
sorry to take so long to reply. i also have kidney problems. inflammation due to chronic myofacial pain causes infections that never do seem to fully go away. i am due to go in for a look see inside me, soon as my leg heals. one thing at a time, ya know?
the reason i ended up in the hospital was an undiagnosed infection in my urinary tract that went into my surgery site.
as for it being related to fibro i can see how it could be. when i had my eyes operated on the fibro went there and caused another issue that now requires laser surgery. my doc's absolutely feel fibro is altering my body, not in big ways, but subtle little ways that alter my ability to heal.
are both your kidneys involved?
i am going out to dance now. i will focus on you.
peace, love, and clean urine,
bluelakelady

Hi bluelakelady, thanks so much for the reply hon. im sorry to hear youre having problems with the kidneys as well. seems like one thing leads to another and another doesnt it? im not sure if both kidneys are involved, i think thats why they were talking about the biopsy. i feel the same way that fibro is somehow altering my body. may i ask what was wrong with your legs hon? the problem i was/am having with my feet is right on top of the feet, swelling, with lots of excruciating pain. the rhuemie said it was inflammation that had wrapped around the nerves or something, i think he called it mortons neuroma. will be getting cortisone shots in both feet on the 19th of this month for it. thank you for focusing on me while you dance, i love to dance as well (just cant right now lol) peace and love to you too hon and hope everything clears up in your beautiful body as well, (hehe liked the clean urine line lol)

Re: other autoimmune problems along with fibro

Hi Jen,

I have an undifferentiated autoimmune disorder that overlaps several dx categories but is specific for none, w/assorted lab test weirdness.

Sorry to hear about the kidney test probs. I hope your doc told you about other options beyond worst case scenario. Some autoimmune kidney diseases can be controlled w/meds.

The Morton's neuroma itself IMO is not part of FM, BUT you are likely experiencing a much more painful course than a normal person would due to the fibro. IME fibro makes just about any other health condition worse/more painful than it need be.

Best wishes.

Hi everyone.
I think the kidney problem stems from all the meds that we take to keep the pain away so that we can function during the day, or get a good nights sleep. Bluelakelady I hope all goes well.

Jen I will pray that all will go well. I think once we are diagnosed with FM everything else that we get can be attributed to the FM.

Re: other autoimmune problems along with fibro

hi jenetti,
the bone from my calf that runs up behind my knee has an area that was dying. the bone was disintegrating. an area about a dime in circumference. there is no fix. the doc put some stuff on it that will stop the progress of deterioration. beginning of next year we do the other knee and see what is going on in that one. i have a problem with my bones disolving. my jaw joints are doing the same thing, only there is nothing yet that can be done about it. one day i will be yakking away and my jaw will drop, permenantly. wonder how old i will be, giggle, when that happens. if it is based on use i am in trouble. i love to talk. and laugh.
i have had kidney problems all my life. way before i was taking any medicines of any kind. infections are just an aspect of my life. i know some of the meds i take must be processed thru my kidneys. with my history i am sure the meds exacerbate the situation.
i had fun dancing today. still being careful. i doubt the doc will be pleased. however the rest of me was beginning to hurt from all that being still. he said listen to my body. i am. and she wants to dance!
giggle.
peace, love hugs and energy,
bluelakelady
ps thank you dreamweaver. you are new. welcome, welcome. you have landed in a special space. soon it will feel like a second home with old friends surrounding you.

Re: other autoimmune problems along with fibro

thank you to everyone that answered, you are very special loving people and yes welcome to the new ones.
>>"I have an undifferentiated autoimmune disorder that overlaps several dx categories but is specific for none, w/assorted lab test weirdness."<< oh yes hon, i have alot of lab test weirdness as well , my rhuemie told me last week that it is very frustrating for doctors who know something is off but they just cant find that one little answer that will solve the puzzle, HA! he's getting frustrated?? lol hes just looking for them, we're FEELING it. I also believe like you guys that the meds/drugs after a long period of time end up harming the kidneys and other organs, especially the kidneys since it filters everything. And thank you so much for the prayers, i appreciate them very much.

Oh bluelakelady, ouch hon, im sorry to hear about that hon, i wish they could do something about that area on your knee hon.
<<<"one day i will be yakking away and my jaw will drop, permenantly. wonder how old i will be, giggle, when that happens. if it is based on use i am in trouble. i love to talk. and laugh. ">>>
LOL, you are such a sweetheart BLL, i wish you a beautiful day today, and i wish we could all be pain free, even for a few hours. that would be a precious gift, lol. im dancing with ya today too bluelakelady, even if its just moving from my hips up lol. right now feet are hurting too much, but theyll just have to wait their turn before dancing lol. theyll get there. you ladies are truly angels.

Re: other autoimmune problems along with fibro

thanks ladies for your good thoughts and prayers, tutti frutti, no hon i dont think i have that, i was quoting what another poster on here said she had. I have fibromyalgia for many many years now, and just about 2 yrs ago, they noticed my thyroid was extremely slow, so was put on synthroid. now my kidneys are acting up, but im sure its got to be some kind of autoimmune disease, so far in my 51 yrs (will be 52 next month) i have or have had
tonsillectiomy
appendectomy
total hysterectomy plus ovaries removed, im on estraderm patch therapy
breast cysts removed numerous time (on going thing)
severe anemia (on going thing, have had to have transfusions after surgeries)
severe fibromyalgia (on going, lots of meds)
scar tissue built up on my intestines, that was my last surgery.
thyroid is messed up,(on going ) not working, im on meds
now theyre looking at doing kidney biopsies because of blood and high level of protien in them.
i seem to be losing organs slowly. saddest part of this for me is i wanted so much to be an organ donor when i died, i wanted to give the gift of life to someone. i feel there will be nothing left to give. then again, im sure with an autoimmune diseased body, no one will really be able to have used them anyway.
