Off Cymbalta/On Lexapro (Weight gain?)

Hi everyone...off for awhile, cannot knock this depression and pain. New news to all of you, huh? Ha! I have gained so much weight since going on anti-depressants and presently on Cymbalta. As it does help with the pain, it has done nothing for the depression from all of the fibro symptoms and the pain is helped by say 20%. The doctor, who is worthless, yes I am looking....has suggested Lexapro. Has anyone experience with this and is weight gain a problem with it?

Thanks very much, Annie

Hi Annie ~

I have been on Lexapro for about 3 years now, but mostly for depression and multiple areas of pain, but not limited to FM. I have gained some weight, but I don't think it's from Lex, as I'm overweight anyway, and have always had weight problems, unfortunately.

I have been on other ADs and all caused me some sort of intolerable side-effects, except Lex. As for helping with pain, it's still there, but it helps me to tolerate it more easily, I think. I'm not sure that any AD can take away the pain..it's more that it helps you to deal with it better, relaxes you, annnd, when you're not as depressed, you tolerate most anything better, IMHO.

Any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them.
