Fibro and Peripheral neuropathy - Fibromyalgia Message Board

I've been on the diagnostic merry-go-round for a few years, lots of things were considered and about a month ago I was given 2 diagnoses.

Fibromyalgia and Non-Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy

Everything I have read suggests that the 2 are not related. I'm having a difficult time with this because they both started at the same time.

Does anyone out there have any ideas?

1) Double, triple ck. your thyroid function. Insist on free thyroid hormone tests (free T3, free T4) if these haven't been done. Get paper copies of your lab work & determine where you are in the ref. ranges. "Low normal" can cause pain in some people, just like size 6 shoes on a size 10 foot. Both the shoes & the feet are normal -- but not right for each other. Same with "low normal" -- it just doesn't fit some people.

2) Consider a 6 wk. trial of daily OTC methylcobalamin (a specific B12 compound). Get a brand that dissolves under your tongue. B12 has a real following, many miracle stories for PN, even in people who've been told their B12 levels are 'normal.'

I do not mean to seem like a total dope here lost in the dark, but I think I might have had this PN, I was getting numbness and tingling in my arms sometimes mouth/face. Hmm, I have recently got some blood work done, but does and Endocrinologist have the answers? As far as the pain goes.

Also - yes, I too have heard the miracles of B-12 too many to mention. BTW - also really really popular in Hollywood! haha

Seems like you are getting closer, much closer, let's hopw this all irons out in a few months!
