Our daughters (2 with FMS) seem to have more and more severe symptoms during inversions. Is this something most people suffering with FMS suffer?

i was wondering what that meant too, so i did a search and this is what i came up with:

"Thermal inversion occurs when a layer of warm air settles over a layer of cooler air that lies near the ground. The warm air holds down the cool air and prevents pollutants from rising and scattering."

A lot of us have more problems in colder weather.

Have your DDs had thorough thyroid evals, incl. levels of free thyroid hormones free T3 & free T4? More thyroid hormone is needed in cold weather. If deficient or even low-normal, suffering ensues. The majority of docs do not run these particular tests of thyroid function routinely.

Aleenia has the right definition. A temperature inversion is most commonly assoicated with fog and smog. The colder air on top holds the old air and pollutants closer the ground than without it.
