Could this be Fibro?

I'm a 24 year old female, who, until November 2006 was in good health with the exception of kidney stones.

I started having left side chest pain and left shoulder pain and went to the ER, where they did an EKG which came out fine. The pain continued and I started having bad muscle pain all over, in my arms, jaw, ribs, and upper back. I've also had tingling on the left side of my face, hands and feet. I saw a Cardiologist who did an EKG and a Stress Test and Echocardiogram, all of which they said were normal.

I've never had pain in my ribs before, and it's on both sides, even going into my back. I'm not sure if it's relevant, but I have has saline breast implants since 2002.

I've had pain in my knees, thighs (on the side, right near the knee), and under my arms and down my side on both sides.

All this random pain is very new, it feels like it just came out of nowhere.

Could this be fibro or is it something else?

Any help is appreciated

Re: Could this be Fibro?

The bad muscle pains could be fibro but it still could be anything. The best thing to do is try to get a referral to a rheumy. Fibro is a dx of exclusion and your on your way to excluding alot of things.

Re: Could this be Fibro?

I have to make an appointment with the Rheumy tomorrow. My primary Dr. gave me Cymbalta and said I should start taking them for Fibro.

I just want to make sure that's what it really is, and no one is missing anything.

This is a list of tests that I've had

EKG
2 Echocardiograms
Stress Test (no dye)
EMG
EEG
MRI of Brain
MRI of Thoracic and Cervical Spine
CT Scan of Stomach
Chest X Ray

My pain isn't all over my body all at once, but my knees and my back will hurt, or my ribs and my arm. Is that normal with Fibromyalgia?

Re: Could this be Fibro?

Hi,
I Also Got Fibro Seemlingly Out Of Nowhere. 6 Months Of Chronic Headaches And When They Stopped I Was Left With Pain In My Feet, Hands, Calves, Burning In My Upper Back, Sores On My Tongue. Feeling Of Weakness, Foggy Thinking. I Have Rls And Ibs. I Am Basically A Mess. The Pain Pills Do Not Even Seem Help. However, I Keep Taking Them, Hoping. I Do Not Give In Tho. I Get Up Each Morning And Shower And Get Dressed, Make Up And All. I Keep Busy, Even If I Have Pain. Every Once In Awhile I Nap Or Stay In Bed For The Day. Keep Seeing Your Doc. You Are Young And Have To Get To The Bottom Of It And Then Fight For Good Tx. Let Us Know.
Sincere Wishes!
Chris

Re: Could this be Fibro?

The pain is normal for fibro depending on what type of pain it is. If it feels achy like the flu in your back, then it's the right type of pain. You should have also had a whole mess of blood work. It could definitely be fibro but I would see the rheumy and he could tell you better and see if there is anymore tests to be run. Also fibro usually (but not alway) comes with a whole host of other syndroms. I have migraines, double jointed, rhynauds, IBS, hypothyroidism, insomnia, fibro fog and a few others I can't think of. If you ask anyone on the board, the majority would have at least one of these things.
And nno matter how hard this might sound, you need to keep moving. You have to exercise but start of slowly. That might be only stretching but it truely helps the pain. You might even have to start out at 5 min. a day but KEEP MOVING.
