WEIRD ACHES and KNEE - Fibromyalgia Message Board

To be succint. It started four month ago, when I had some tingling for a few minutes here and there, but no big deal. Then three weeks or so ago I had two small episodes where my legs felt weak. Went away quick. Not long after that - the third and most worst episode- I felt alot of weakness in lower legs. I had problems walking, some pain when I did. I went to ER and they put me upstairs for four days. The neurogist set me some appointments with MR scans of spine and head; and a cat scan of head. When I got out, at home I still had trouble walking. But got gradually better over a two weeks. Why so long? When I saw my neuro for the results he told there was nothing with my nerves. He couldn't help me any longer. I guess no lesions. But I'm still having some difficulty walking, though a lot better.I feel stronger in the legs, though I can feel weak during certain periods in the day, with some ache in upper thighs. Strange stuff.
Though I'm usually better in the afternoons, perhaps because of the rest the night before. I get occasional aches of short duration, in knee joints, under fingers a vibrating pain, have to sit in a good position or I might get some soreness in lower back. If I exert something- like using my hand on the computer- I can get a weird ache. Pressure at times on my knees felt if I walk. Does anyone have the same symptoms or a similar situation? I don't understand any of this. I'm 39 years old male. I'm no longer as fit as I use to be. Just a month ago I did my own shopping, walking a couple miles to the mall. What a change!

Just because you have no lesions only means that they could be less than 2mm. MRI's don't pick up anything smaller. The lower back pain is probably from you having problems walking. Keep a log on you symptoms and when they happen. If they get worse you might want to see a new neurologist. I'm on my 3rd. I would also have you check out the MS board, which I'm on. I'm not saying this is what you have but it does sound like it could still be a neuro problem. Don't give up looking for an answer. Not feeling good sucks and it's up to you to push the docs into checking out everything because if the answers don't come easy they tend to give up.

welcome cat,
about 12 years ago i went thru a similar experience. i ended up in a wheelchair for several months. it passed at last and slowly i got the muscles back. it never happened again. i still have weak moments and days sometimes.
my knees have reasons to hurt not related to fibro, yet fibro found the spot and visits there too. between fibro and the other stuff walking can be difficult. i make myself, and i be sure to sit my fanny down when that weak feeling comes. beats falling on my face fighting it.
i went thru all the tests too. thankfully they found nothing at that time. since then i have had three strokes, those showed up, which i have recovered fully from. determination and a sassy attitude.
when you get weak remember to breath slow and deep. i found oxygen restores my balance and gives me back some if not all of my strength. in pain we forget to breath properly. we tend to hold our breath and breath shallow. without breath we exacerbate the situation and increase pain.
