If the meds are helping her a great deal, they may be worth it. When meds do not help a great deal, it is usually wise to try to figure out which ones are helping most, and which have the fewest side effects.

One thing about meds is they often do cause side effects. If your friend's bowel condition worsens under her med regimen, it may be helpful to look at which meds might have a constipating side effect.

I hope your friend does well. Many people prefer conventional medicine for fibro, but conventional medicine does not have a very great track record with fibro at present.

There are other approaches to fibro beyond conventional meds. You can read about them on other threads if you wish, or peruse the offerings at your local library. But if your friend is doing well with her meds, there is probably no need to look too far afield for the time being.
