| Re: Treatment Information
Hi Versailles,
My Fibro Hero is Jacob Teitelbaum MD. A former sufferer himself, he has written extensively about treatment options for fibro in the books, Pain Free 1 - 2 - 3, as well as in his earlier book, From Fatigued to Fantastic.
Unlike most conventional docs, Teitelbaum's books contain info on many self-help & alternative remedies for fibro, in addition to info on RX drugs. I'd be very surprised if you don't find a nugget or two in his books.
There are many books available on fibro, but most focus on one particular treatment, or line of treatments. These books I have recommended will introduce you to the wide world of options.
Teitelbaum has recently signed on as chief Medical Director for Fibro & Fatigue Centers. These are special clinics, with branches in many areas of the USA. The doctors are trained in looking for causal factors in fibro, and treating them. They are holistic, rather than just painkiller RX oriented -- although they can offer those as well.
Fibro & Fatigue Centers often offer free seminars once a month to introduce people to their services. I myself have not yet been to an FFC clinic, however one has recently opened in my state & I am thinking about it. What's my hesitation? I'm making really great progress on my own with self-treatments from those books. The Pain Free book I only read in January, and one particular thing I've tried from it has been really helpful. I'd love it if I didn't even need to see a specialist!
A reference librarian can help you find an FFC near you, if you can't find the clinic name in your phone book. Libraries are also great places to find books on fibro.
Best wishes.
