I am female, 64 years young, have Fibromyalgia and IBS. I have just started taking Fosamax for my thining bones. BUT everytime I take the pill, one a week, first thing in the morning, full glass of water and don't lay down as ordered.
For the next four or five days I am in tons of pain and wonder if anyone else out there with Fibro has tried Fosamax and has had the same pain. Colon, bowel and pressure like being in labor. Thanks
Yes, I definitely had that problem. Was pretty OK for about 4 months then things got worse. By the end of the 6th month, my whole chest and back hurt all the time and at times really bad. A couple of times I was not sure I was going to make it driving home from work. I stopped it and things gradually improved over months - still have the usual aches and pains but at least most of the chest pains are gone. I decided my thinning bones would just have to do with the calcium, vit D and exercise.

I have terrible pain for about three days after taking the Foxamax pill and this has happened two weeks in a row now, so that must be my problem and for now I am going to stop taking it. Have a great sunny, FL day I am enjoying the FL sun today. : )

No, I did not have a "gut" problem that I was aware of anyway. Just the increasing pains, especially in the chest area. They say all thoses meds can cause the same problem so I have been afraid to try any of the others. My rheumy strongly suggested I should be on something - but oh well - he is not the one with the problem.
