Treatment for yeast overgrowth

Has anyone here been treated for yeast overgrowth in the bowels, with Nystatin or a similar antifungal drug? What was your experience? Did you improve? Did you feel worse for a time? (they call that toxic die-off) Or no change?

The doctor you went to, who prescribed the drug, did you trust him or her overall? Did she mix this with other forms of treatment? Did you feel she was using the candida treatment as a kind of one-fix-all ? Did she do tests to verify that you really had yeast overgrowth?

Also, if you live in the Pasadena, CA area let me know of local doctors you trust.

Re: Treatment for yeast overgrowth

If you don't mind a bit of a a drive, consider making an appointment with Dr. St. Amand in Marina del Rey. I haven't been treated with the drug you describe, but I may have had yeast overgrowth at one time. I stopped eating sugar and went on a low carb diet, so what might have been yeast overgrowth symptoms did disappear.

Re: Treatment for yeast overgrowth

I didn't realize Dr. St. Amand was in So Cal. I'm going to look into his protocol. I've tried diets but my sugar cravings are pretty overwhelming, and I've read that treating a yeast overgrowth can knock back cravings, which then makes it easier to stick on a no-sugar diet.
