Fibro and slow healing?

Hello all,

I've had chronic pain for a pretty long time, but I was just diagnosed recently (within the last year). I do have a question though. Does anyone else here have problems healing from injuries? I've had several strains, sprains, etc. and it seems like it always takes me ten times longer to heal than most and the pain from it seems to last for years after the injury. Is this common with fibro? I mean, I still have severe pain from an ankle injury I did eight years ago! The doctors have done X-rays, bone scans, MRIs and can't figure out why I'd still be having pain from an injury that long ago. Is this related to the fibro?

Thanks,
Vers

Re: Fibro and slow healing?

Hi, Vers!

Sorry to hear of your trouble. I can relate from my experience of a back injury two years ago and broken ribs in a car accident last December and then there are other places that I injured prior to fibro that tend to be more sensative. But I haven't been able to "get over" either the back or rib fractures and, though I hurt all over, those places are particularly painful. So, by my experience, though you may be healed from the injury, that may be one of your more sensative/tender/sore places in dealing with your fibro on an ongoing basis.

FYI: I have found that Lidoderm patches are most helpful on these areas. Hope this helps.
