Hurting!

Since my pain management appt on saturday my kneck has been killing me. He did the tenderpoint test and he pressed on an area of my neck that NEVER hurt before, now since then I feel like I have a painful kink on the right side of my neck.

Why is it everytime they do this test, they end up making something hurt that never did!!!!!!! I'm so frustrated.

I found out that he just started TODAY getting my information to the insurance co concerning the Lyrica prescription. Its not covered by my insurance co...so he has to send in the information and then THEY will decide if I can take it!!!! How does a insurance co decide this ..... shouldn't this be my Dr's call??

Im just frustrated, he made me hurt worse and now he's taking his sweet time getting the paper work done to get Lyrica approved My insurance co says that IF they get the information today that I should know if its approved by THURSDAY!

Guess its a good thing he gave me Vicodin..........I figured I really wouldn't need it after I got the Lyrica, but thats gonna be awhile!

I've heard only good things about Lyrica, I didn't even know about it until he prescribed it and after I read it I couldn't wait to try it, this is so frustrating!

Hope

Re: Hurting!

I wouldn't blame the doctor... I would think the doc should be able to prescribe what he thinks is best for you... My doc tried to prescribe something for me and it took my insurance company 60 days that their "committee" did not want to approve it. They thought it was to expensive and there were other alternatives. I suffer from fibro also however this was from something all together different. The alternative the insurance approved has still not done anything for what ailed me and that was over 6 months ago.

Good Luck!

Re: Hurting!

I'm not blaming the Dr, I was just upset that he didn't start working on it until yesterday.

Im furious that the Dr isn't in total control over what they prescribe for you, why in the world is it up to the insurance company. I'm upset with how insurance is run. If a my Dr thinks it will benefit me then he would know better than the insurance company.

I guess finding out in 48hrs isn't so bad after what you experienced. I would have flipped a lid with my insurance company after a week!

Thanks,
Hope

Re: Hurting!

That's the world of insurance companies no matter how much we pay them. They are all in it for a buck. They want to make all the money they can. I am sorry you are having a hard time but don't get upset b/c it doesn't hurt the doctor or insurance co, it hurts you. With all you are going through you don't need the stress to go along with it.

Hang in there and I will be thinking and praying for you....
