Muscle twitches - Fibromyalgia Message Board

Hi! I'm brand new here, and just this past month got a diagnosis of fibromyalgia. I have nearly all the symptoms others have posted here, but I haven't noticed anyone else complaining of muscle twitches - which I have almost daily. My dr. sent me to a neurologist, who didn't think anything was wrong with me neurologically, but he did say that fibromyalgia wasn't "a proven disease" and thought that I was too "nervous and sensitive" (English was his second language, so maybe he doesn't express himself too well). I guess I'd better get on the ball and find myself a rheumatolist, but I live in the middle of nowhere, and it takes about 2 hours to reach the nearest medical specialists....anyway, I've enjoyed yall's posts, and look forward to reading more of them.

Good to have you here. Welcome and hope that you find this to be the place to help you. I come here every so often.
I don't mean to get into your business but any time a doctor talks to you like that is the time to look for another doctor. That neurologist should have done some tests on you. I had one that did the muscle test by sticking the needles in the legs. The needles were very small but I got sick and thought I would pass out. He got me a cold wet cloth and finished the testing. When he wrote up his report he said it was inconclusive because he had to abort the testing. LOL Think I want him to touch me again. Nada.
I have since seen better doctors and know now what was really wrong with me. I have 3 ruptured disc in my neck and the scar tissue is very prominate. The neurologist I saw first should have been able to see this on the MRI he had done.

Hey Bonnie, I just had to tell you, I had the same test about 6 years ago and they didn't get too far on me either, I couldn't tolerate it at all! The guy got mad at me too......... Oh well!

Sujenke, welcome! From what I can tell, these muscle twitches are very common! When my daughter was so sick and bedridden in Dec., her muscles twitched constantly. It was amazing. It seems to go along with the spasms, but even muscles that aren't in a hard spasms twitch at random. Maybe this is something more closely associated with myofascial pain syndrome.
