Angry Finding your strength In Difficult Times! Fribro-pain-and meds. trouble w/ pharmacy!

How many of you out have trouble getting medicine that is described to you by your doctor?, Well I keep having trouble with the people I go through, and my situation is that almost have no choice because I live in such a remote area, that I would have to fly 70 miles to the hospitol to get them, so they are sent by mail. but this pharmacy had written to out heath aids that they believe I have a high addiction, not high pain, and that made my blood boil....so this afternoon I will talk with my doctor and let him know what this pharmacy is doing, that what they said is not true. I take relafin twice a day, and MS-Condin twice a day, when pain flares up, The Ms-condin(morphine 25mg tabs), doesn't seem to help at all, but to give me dry mouth really bad, loss of sexual drive, and makes going to mother nature more difficult. Can someone give me some suggestion to other medications that may work, or a list of things, so I can work with my doctor, to make things more managable. I noticed someone mentioned oxycodone, is that an opiad in the same catagory as morphine, and how well does it do for pain on a scale of 1-10, and pain is a 10? Today, without the meds, I am having a ten day, and it is making work very hard...
I know that focusing on my problems is a bad habit, but we all become so accustomed to thinking about "What's Wrong?!" "What can we do?!", that our(MY) problems become a major source of conversation with in my family. I know that focusing on my problems will not make me feel better. I strongly feel though that I have been mistreated in some way, talking about it won't help(sometimes). Right now circumstances seem hopeless, and if I keep dwelling on them it won't help. I really need to increase my positive feeling in myself. not to focus on the pending problem, but it most certainly is hard, and by thinking of this problem makes it worse. I just have a question in my mind that needs to be answered. And I am using the "back-burner" to try and find a way that many of you out who has had this far longer than I.

I know that when the pain gets really intence it is all I can think about. Its even worse when the people who are suppose to help start saying things like your an addict and not in pain. Maybe your Dr. could send a letter to make them understand.
I havent started meds yet although I will soon because I cant take it any more. I dont know what rout to take but I have written down the name of every drug and treatment I have found on this message board to take to the Dr. with me on Friday.
I hope things go better for you.
Just remember people who make stupid judgements like calling you an addict are just uneducated.

Petey! So sorry you have to put up with so much nonsense from your pharmacy. Especially when there is a variety of pain meds that are safe and effective, including the opioids. The percentage of patients using prescription pain meds who have some problem with addiction is app. 3%!! I use Ultram(a mild opioid) for manageable pain. If the pain is off the charts I have found Vicodin very helpful as well as Endocet. You have the right not to be in constant agony and I hope your doc is cooperative or he is a horses' asterisk! Find another. God bless, Al

Thumbs up

Peteybear, I was just put on oxycodone and something else. So far I am feeling less pain. I take it daily the doctor said that was important. Hope you're doctor gives the Pharmacy a rude awakening. Write the head of the pharmacy.

Hi Petey, I feel for you! And it is VERY difficult when you are in severe pain to think of anything else. I find any pain levels above a "4" to be very distracting and above a "6" and it's like a giant bee buzzing around your head, very distracting and irritating. Your pharmacy should NOT be making decisions about your medical care and your doc should straighten them out P R O N T O!!!!! Can you look around for other ways to have it shipped through someone else? If you can't because of your health insurance, try calling the health insurance company. If all else fails, your State Representative is the person who oversee's the health care industry and I've found that a calm, brief phone call to them (call when you're having a non-emotional good day) can really get all that red tape unstuck. And you don't sound overmedicated to me, the pain meds twice a day and then the other one which I belive is not a narcotic. Sheesh!
