numbness & medication - Fibromyalgia Message Board

Does anyone have problems with numbness and tingling? I do, that's what brought about my diagnosis of fibro. I take doxepin at night for pain and to help me sleep and I take zoloft in the morning for the numbness. When I first started taking the zoloft the numbness disappeared, now it helps but it doesn't make it go away completely. It can be quite annoying and sometimes painful. I'd be glad to hear any suggestions. Thanks to all for the good words and advice. I do have a Dr., a rheumatologist, supposed to be one of the top in my area. I don't really have any complaints with him I guess I just don't know enough about fibro to know what to ask and what are actually symptoms of the fibro. I am feeling a little bit better about my job but I haven't said anythimg tro my boss. But who knows maybe I'll give it a shot. I've thought about looking for another job but I worry about finding one that will pay me what I make there. I don't have a degree and the one skill that I do have I cannot use. Before the fibro got too bad I was a nail tech. (manicures, pedicures, artificial nails). The numbness and tingling got so bad I couldn't feel what I was doing, and when your using a power drill on someones fingernails that could be a really bad thing. So I gave it up before I hurt someone. Look at me going on and on. Thanks again for all the encouragement.

Hi VanGogh! Sorry to hear about your dx, but it's just GREAT to have you write as much as you want here! Numbness and tingling, unfortunately, seem to be fairly common symptoms with this DD. But there also seem to be people who have them for other reasons -- Did your rheumy send you to a neurologist to have this evaluated?

I got it too.. I have tried neurontin, but it just doped me up and I still had numbness, pins and needles.

Beats me... If I finally find something I'll let you know and you me, okay?

I am in my experimental phase now.. lol Yeah, like Grandpa on the Munsters.

I'm in a cranky mood, huh? AHHHHHH HAAAAAAA!! Another symptom by gosh.. lol

Hello. Have you had nerve conductive study, where they give you little shocks to evaluate the nerves. Not really painful, but annoying. Found out I had pinched nerves from the test. Good luck.

OOh God yes I have.. Twice.. Those test aint no joke either, girlfriend I tell ya!!

Anyway, I though I'd post this here!!

I found out our water contains too much "TRIHALOMETHANES"... One of the side affects are nuerological disorders...

Yes, it seems my good ol' buddy neuropathy has a cause after all.. Well, at least I am hoping.. I have stopped drinking gallons of this water and stuck to bottled water and have had only 2 tiny episodes since then and it's been 25 days....I have been waiting to see if it was really going away before I posted my success.. I guess it is safe to say it now!!

I gotta go now, I am off to sue the water company... lol.... not really...I should though, if I was that kind of person...
