Unhappy I have a temperature!

Does a low grade fever go along with fibro or myofacial pain symptoms? I have been having a REALLY bad day today. Achy all over and so weak! I finally went to the doctor about lunch time and I had a fever of 100. He didn't seem concerned about it, though. Just wanted to try me on ANOTHER anti-depressant to help my sleep. Anybody tried Pamelor?

I'm thinking maybe the fever is contributing to the aches and pains, but why do I have a fever?

Chin up (cause mine's starting to drop)!

Nell

Cool

I have ran a low grade fever seemingly all of my life. Every time I go to the doc I have a low temp. When I am fighting bouts of FM, I have a temp too. I suffer from hot flashes a lot and I am always hot and I sweat like crazy, since I was a little kid too. (my blood sugar is normal, thyroid is normal, hormones levels normal)...I think I just have a bum thermostat in my body!!

I tell my doctor that my FM symptoms are so close to horrible flu symptoms one can get. It is so close to the flu for me (body & muscle aches, weakness, feverish, chills, nausea sometimes, diarrhea & the whole 9 yards)that at first when I came down with this, I really thought it was just an awful flu. My nose even runs a little and I sneeze a lot too when I am in a bout.. Sometimes, I really wonder if FM is just a bad allergy problem that tries to kill ya pain wise...Maybe I am allergic to life!! lol

Wierdest stuff I ever saw.. And any thing I try to take for it except for pain meds makes the symptoms and pain a jillion times worse. Also, when the pain meds wear off & I go a couple of days without them, I seem to be even more exhausted and weak, and the pain is a jillion times worse too. I have to come off of my meds real slow to avoid making it worse.. sometimes I wonder if meds are worth the hell I go through when I run out and have to wait a week or so to get more. But, then again, when it hits it hits & I need something to keep from going out of my mind.

Thats why I am working real hard on a natural remedy regimen as soon as possible. I want to find relief that is drug free.. My stomache can't take all these pills any more & I am finding that pain meds are making me real moody and down right mean sometimes. My husband said there is a huge difference in me when I am on pain meds for a while.. I noticed it, but was hoping I was wrong..

Now what do I do?

Hey Lisa,

Wish I knew what to tell you to do. Wish I knew what to tell all of us. I finally had to go home yesterday about 4:00. I just couldn't keep going. The baby was with her Mom for the night, so I just went home and went to bed (a luxury for me). My fever got up to 101.2 and finally broke sometime during the night. I feel much better today but still achey and tired.

The Rheumatologist sent me for massage therapy but when I got there this morning, they tell me they don't do massage therapy. For people with fibro and myofacial pain syndrome, they do aquatic therapy, so I start that next week and they gave me the name of the ONLY trained massage therapist in my town if I wanted to go that route. Gotta see what the insurance will pay on it.

Try to keep a positive attitude, my friend and keep praying, as I'm sure you will. As I told Al on the post that got so heated, the Vicodin makes me feel worse when it starts wearing off. Be careful with the meds. What are you taking? Some of them really do affect your moods, especially if you're mixing several different ones.

Chin up girl, I'll be praying for some relief for you.

Nell

Cool

AQUATIC therapy is the bomb MamaNell...

Oh My God you have to try it... Good deal, I am glad your going, I was gonna tell you & I forgot. I even got me a kids swimming pool that is deep enough to float in. I get out there in it and do massive exercising and it is so good. In the water you are weightless and you can get so much exercise and it doesn't hurt at all. If you still feel crappy when you get out, at least the hour or so you spend in there will be wonderful. To me & my horrible pain, I think just an hour or two of feeling relaxed & good, is worth a million dollars.. Please give it the all American try, ok? The ol' MamaNell try!! I promise you wont be sorry. Just make sure the water is warm/hot because it makes a huge difference. I know you & when you talk like you did in that post, you are skeptical.. Just try it, ok? I sit there & imagine it as holy water or some super blessed water and I am just laying all in it & dunking my head in it. I imagine myself coming out all clean & fresh & healed. I love water!! Especially hot water beating down on me in my shower. I went out & got a kool massaging shower head. Oh man it helps. I also got a bath spa mat that lays in the bottom of the tub & blows out all these massive vibrating bubbles all underneath me. Oh Man is that bad.. (bad meaning really good.. I still talk like I did when I was a teen, I know it's terrible, huh?)

Anyway, to answer your question, I take hydrocodone better known as, Lorcet 10/650 which is the exact same thing as Vicodin except it's got a much higher dose of hydrocodone & more Tylenol in it than Vicodin has (Vicodin just wasn't quite strong enough for me). Ya see, Vicodin has anywhere from 5 grains to 7.5 grains of hydrocodone with 500 mg of Tylenol (acetominophen). Lorcet has 7.5 -10 grains of hydrocodone & 650 mg of Tylenol. There is also Vicoprofen which I tried in March. YUCK!! Vicoprophen is the same as Vicodin except it has Ibuprofen instead of Tylenol. They just change the names to fit the chemical amounts. Plus, different companies make Vicodin stronger in there own deals, ya know? I take Lorcet 10/650 which is the max. Anyway, I also take Ultram 50mg. I have taken Vicodin/Lorcet/Percocet (it's all the same just different mg's) my whole life. I have been in bad health since childhood. I know more about pain killers than Adam knew about Eve.. (wait, men don't know women anyway, so that's a bad comparison). You get my point. I was taking pain killers when I was just 9 years old. Back when Tylenol 3 was the big pain med..Now I'd have to take 20 Tylenol 3 to compare to what I take now. And don't think my dumb &%$ didn't try that when I was in my twenties either. I did. lol stupid.. Anyway, tylenol 2's, 3's & 4's have codein 1-2-3 grains which is way weaker than the hydrocodone you take & way way weaker than the hydro I take. On the other hand, Oxycodone although is very similar to what we take, is even stronger. Oxycontin is the highest on our list. I have gotten that far but found it to be massivley addicting, got scared & changed back to Lorcet. I wanna relieve pain, not become a junkie. Anyway, unless your on heroin or dilaudid (hydromorphone hydrochloride)or mega amounts of oxycontin or morphine, morphine sulfate, MS cotton, or something of that extreme nature, you shouldn't experience what we do. It's totally bogus man. Just another reason to hate FM.. It's like your damned if you do and your damned if you don't. And of course, as with any drug be it opiates or not, if you abuse them you will be in trouble some how, some way..I am careful & I ween myself off periodically to avoid addiction. I don't have an addictive personality per se, but I am only human... When your depressed as we can get with FM, it is easy to sedate yourself for that too. Extreme Caution is always best..

I also know, that what we take (not Ultram)has a lot of Tylenol (acetominophen)and it has been proven that acetominophen is very hard on the liver if taken for long periods of time. I am already having liver pains & that is another reason I want off of this stuff. EVERYTHING!! My stoamche hates me, man... But.... I never had any problems with withdrawals or extra pain and aches and so on after taking pain meds for months at a time, until I got this FM crap. It is the illness doing it, not the meds by themselves. You don't see any one else suffer like we do, do ya? Only us because we have this FM. Or whatever the heck it REALLY is.. I just decided to try & find a way to get off of everything, especially the hydrocodone. They keep me awake and I loose so much sleep, that I get really cranky. But, until I can find a descent (natural) regimen, I am taking em'. Thats final..lol

Talk to ya later!!
lj
