OTC Muscle Relaxer? - Fibromyalgia Message Board

I am trying to find out if there is a reliable OTC muscle relaxer out there. I am on a waiting list to get on the appointment waiting list for a rhumy, and I am supposed to wait till after that visit to return to my primary Doc. I have been in what I guess is a flare for about 8 months now, and I am getting to the point where I am getting a charley horse

at least 3, sometimes 5 times a week, somewhere on my body, but mostly in my legs. I am now trying to up my defenses with minerals now, but until my body can absorb them, I just want something to tide me thru the pain. Tramadol is no longer helping me. UUGH... I'm just so tired of hurting.

I use to take over the counter Valerian Root for muscle relaxant. A pharmacist may give you a better idea with knowing what other meds you are taking so one doesn't clash with the other. I now take Flexeril 2x daily prescribed as muscle relaxant. I see you also take the Tramadol which i will soon begin taking to replace Darvocet. Someone here may give you other info on muscle relaxers, this is just my opinion on what i had once tried.

I've heard about the valerian, and I talked a bit to my pharmacist, or his assistant rather, and that seems to be a good route with all my meds and all. I was also advised to add a mineral too, but I just can't seem to remember what it was... magnesium maybe. I can only remember that it started with an M. LOL... fibro has such a morose sense of humor about our memory doesn't it. But thankyou, valerian root is my next attempt at relief.
