I just found out I have carpel tunnel. Does this necessarily have anything to do with fibromyalgia?

I have real problems with my right arm, pins and needles, numbness etc.
The doctor did suspect carpal tunnel at first but as it never progressed and sort of came and went he said it was probably my fibro.
He did suggest I may be prone to Carpal because of the fibro but didn't really explain that reasoning to me.

not really but it is interesting for me that you brought this up. i have cts. had the surgery, don't recommend it. p.t. is better. and braces.
i had cts first and during my long wait for surgery i also developed fibro. any connection? who knows? i do know fibro will intensify the pain. it still does for me. fibro loves those places of injury, old or new. it feeds on it.
best therapy at home. you won't belive this, dishes. hot water and using your hands. go figure? yet it does help. i hate dishes. giggle.

hi bouncy,
interesting what you doc said. interesting. does it open you up to other stuff, this fibro? i have my doubts on that. would love to hear his reasoning. perhaps there is something new i don't know about.
what i do know is you can have fibro all by itself and you can have a host of other medical stuff along with fibro. there are no rules.
sadly there is also no real knowledge for us to grab hold of. only speculations. sometimes i feel sorry for all our doctors. they must feel frustrated. as do we all at times.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for responding. I appreciate everyone's responses. I have an appt in Sept for a follow-up on my arm. If it is not better by then, they said I will need an EMG and if that doesn't work, they will consider surgery. I want to avoid surgery at all cost. This dang fibro really ticks me off

My arm has not been getting better and is now having numbness with pins and needles, even after wearing this splint they gave me. I am also taking Naproxen 500 mg twice a day.
