Hi, my name is mike and i was diagnosed with fibroyilgia in 1999, along with verious other symtoms of the PGW. the doc said i had 14 pts out of a what 16. igo to the va hospital about once a month and they said they couldn't treat me, but they did give pain med 4 all the symtoms that come along w/ the pgw syndrom. i am new to this board so i'am a little slow. out of all the info i've got on fms is that it wasn't discovered until 91, about the same time we came home from iraq. i have now read that vets of that pgw could come down w/als or parkinsons,and ms. this really bothers me and really brings me down. well i'd better get off for now my hands and legs are hurting bad now ,so talk to you all later.

Chin up...you've come to the right place. I am also new to FM (I had a headon collision with a golfball). I've had it for a little over a year. It's a terrible thought that you risked your life to defend our country and ended up with this terrible illness. Are you still able to work? How has the government treated you since you've gotten sick?

There are many compassionate people hear willing to lend support. Keep reading.

Thank you for your reply, to answer your other questions the government says they are going to help us and no I can't work. Just got my ssn: approved after almost 2 years, had to get a lawyer just to get it. Alomst lost everything I have and worked for and no the state and government dosen't care if you lose it. Mike, Welcome

We have had this for decades. Both my husband and have FMS and now our 18 year old. There are a lot of links below that have great info and research.

New to boards... and .....IN A NUT SHELL

It is not easy to deal with but, a sense of hummor helps and lots of research.

By the way there are 18 points they use to DX. The memory part really bugs me.

Welcome to your new fibro friends. You are not alone in this. There will be days like a dark cloud hangs over and there will be days where you forget about that dark cloud for periods of time. People will ask you, how ya doing, and you may want to tell them...well, it's like this...I have this pain and that pain..and etc. etc. And when you walk away, they truly may not understand because they don't have it. Just try on those days that seem harder to get thru that you have us who understand totally. Feel free to share a good day and your bad days with us. I, too, thank you for serving our country. You are in the category of the Fireman and the Policeman who helped on 9/11. You remember, you still have life and that is a gift even if there are great hurdles to get over. We'll help you jump. Dawn
