| Re: Pain Meds
Moonbeam! Welcome to the board. Congratulations on your weight loss. Seven pounds is a lot of weight to lose. I'm on the guafenesin protocol, which has eliminated 80% of the symptoms I was experiencing. I am not in pain anymore, but I do experience a bit of lingering fatigue. When I was taking pain meds, I tried Ultram and Tramadol. I took only a half-tablet as needed. I was afraid to take either med on a regular basis and have my body adapt, hence requiring more to eliminate the pain. This is a common problem with pain meds.
I had the same difficulty with muscle tightness after excercising, especially if I overdid it with aerobic-type activity. I found that taking a hot bath with either Epsom Salts or BaTherapy helped my muscles to stop shouting so loudly at me. The post-exercise fatigue you described is a common back-lash effect that FMS patients experience. You might have to give your body a break from excercise by using the elliptical every other day rather than every day. This type of interval may give your body a chance to recover so you are not so exhausted.
If you want more information on the guafenesin protol, read "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia" by Dr. St. Amand. Who is the author of the book you recommended?
Blessings,
Kirstee
