Nordet/birth control problem/hormones - Fibromyalgia Message Board

Hi,

I was reading the hormone stuff and lately I have been getting soo nauseus. I feel the reason is I have extremely low iron, and was told it would be a good idea to skip periods, meaning go back to back on the pills. At the time I should normally get my period I am so nauseus I can hardly stand it. Is this because I have fibro and the hormones are getting to me? Im trying to figure out why I am so darn nauseus all the time. Maybe I shouldnt be doing this? Im guessing the pill is hard on anyone with fibro, but it seems some of you are saying it can help?! Curious....

I get very nauseaed(sp- my fibro fog is at work so I can't spell) anyways, I get bloated, and have abdomen pain yet no period! I am on Birth Control Pills and this has been going on for months yet I am not pregnant nor does the Doc think I am starting Menopause. I just turned 40 though. So I also am curious about the homones and the connection to Fibro. I honestly think there is a connection because I even went to the ER during the time this was happening and I asked them to do a UA too to see if maybe I had a bladder infection. It was negative. Wow, you don't ever get your period?? The nausea is horrible- its not nearly as bad today as yesterday and I feel like a different person. Im very new to healthboards, and I read some of your posts/responses in the last two days. I'm truely sorry you have so many conditions- but you seem like a real warrior, and very helpful to others. Im looking for help myself right now- a few people have responded to my first post (the one that says "need help in boston".). They seem like they will be able to give me some advice and referrals. Frankly I don't want life to suck so much anymore- I want to stop being in so much pain! If you have a second, read my first post, maybe you have some suggestions? Thank you and Im sorry I dont have any advice for you- Beverly

Hi Beverly,
No Period here! I guess that is a good thing and a bad thing. My Gyn said you don't want a Period do you? What kind of a question is that? Yet I certainly want to know why I don't have one. Especially since I get all the other stuff on the day it is suppose to start. I wish I was a true warrior, Thanks for the kind words. I've had a recent positive experience from BC (shocking, I know!)
I have SLE, RA, Raynaud's, Sjogren's,(possibly Fibro) and Polycystic Ovaries - meaning I need to be on BC. My endocrinologist and I have been thru a gamut of different pills - which usually sent my SED rate skyhigh and left me on an emotional rollercoaster.

There's a fairly new BC that has been a great solution for me - it's an injectable BC called LUNELLE. It has none of the probs with Depo-Provera (the "other" injectable). My SED rates dropped 30 points the first month and 20 points the second month. I've had a little problem with "moodiness" but I'm taking an anti-depressant to counter it. Studies show that it can lead to slight weight gain, but my antidepressant curbs my appetite so I've lost some weight while on it. Since then, I've been peachy.
