Hey AJS,
First of all, the frustration of dealing with constant pain and heartless doctors has likely driven all of us to tears at one point in time or another.. I can't personally apologize for your alternate doctor's harsh words or behavior, but he was out of line.. You were coming to him for medical help, not to be verbally attacked..
My suggestion for you would be to get a referral to a rheumatologist from your regular doctor.. They specialize in pain related disorders and have the knowledge to diagnose your condition or problem more accurately (especially since you've been in constant pain long enough to warrant a referral).. I can't guarantee that all rheumatologists are sensitive, caring people either, but there are some good ones out there - you just have to look for them..
In any event, I can understand your frustration.. Has your regular doctor run any blood tests for other conditions that cause pain like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis? You have to get all of the conditions with similar symptoms ruled out in order to be properly diagnosed with fibromyalgia, but I'm pretty sure that a rheumatologist could handle that too..
Good luck!
Take Care,
Melanie
