severe neck and shoulder pain - Fibromyalgia Message Board

Symptoms are:
excruciating neck and shoulder pain. am on computer all day long at work and i can feel the stinging starting in my left neck and shoulder. by the time i get home i'm almost in tears.
am on neurotin twice a day, no pain meds.

hot compresses seem to help. also get strange zaps in wrists and pain in hips, knees, feet when I get up in the morning.

have fog, diahrrea or constipation, mood swings, blotchiness, itching, can't sleep, severe sweating, sensitivity to foods, lights, etc., so many other symptoms can't count.

any suggestions for neck and shoulder pain. I'm tired of going to doctors and they cna't help anyway!!! I'm on my 5th one, and it's "gee, fibro, nothing you can do, take alleve, hot baths, relax." crap............

I'm sorry to here about all of your pain...I have the same neck, shoulder and hand pain(for 8 years)...I also work on computers. I have not gotten an exact diagnosis, but I had a doctor once tell me maybe....My health insurances will not send me to the right doctors, but that is an other story....I have been going to a acupuncturest that has helped me to make the pain at least bairable. I have had approxametly 11 visits and during the flair ups I go once a week, but when I am in my normal period I do not have to go.
note*when I started I went 2wk for 4wks

During the bad days I use a heating paid in the mornings and at night....you can alose put rice in a sock and tie the end and micorwave it for 2 to 4 mins then place it on your neck like a heating pad.

Insurance tip:

If you call the carrier and get an unfavorable response, call again. Talk to a different rep.

Remember, each rep has their own experience. Some may gain more knowledge, while others may still be delivering the standard response. Some will exceed in learning and keeping up on the full benefits, medical policy, and the administration guide.

For urgent claims and/or benefits that you feel you should have but are being denied, appeal.

Appeal to the regular method but if urgent, write to Consumer Affairs, Dept. of Corporations, Congressperson, especially if you have a federal health plan.

It is recommended you have a copy of your benefits brochure, and provide the rationale and how it applies to the coverage along with documentation from your physician for appeal review.
