Hi, If it is possible, try taking fast paced walks.
Try warm water stretching exercises, not arobics to the point that you sweat.
Hard workouts only aggrivate muscles, causing a build up of lactic acid which our cells don't eliminate as "normals" do. The build up of this acid is what causes the burning and extreme muscle aches and pain. With fibromyalgia we need to keep moving but not to excess. Some exercise helps to create endorphins (a hormone that our body produces that is a natural pain reliever)
I have found that one does not need to exercise to the point of sweating to feel better. I do not agree with your doctor. I should know, I have had this condition for 20 years. Repeating the same movements over and over can be more harmful, as far as intense muscle pain. Mild streatching is good. It is even better in water that is at body temperature. I agree that is hard to get going some days. I wonder about your age. When I was younger I did much more with less problems. Let your body tell you which is best for you. Take note of how you truely feel after trying things in different ways.
