Sister's FM Improvement w/Guaifenesin Protocol

As many of y'all know I started Dr. St. Amand's treatment for FM, the Guaifenesin Protocol, 2 months ago. My sister started with me. I
received an email from her last night and another this morning. Both just made me want to cry with joy, and I wanted to share that joy with y'all. She is actually experiencing GOOD mornings this week!!! Imagine that??? I hope it might be inspirational hope for others about possibility of FM relief.

My sister is 47, was diagnosed with FM about 5 years ago. She started Guai on 9/17/07, 2 months ago at 600 mg.X2. She mistakenly started at higher dose, and realized the mistake about a week into it and decided to hold at that level since she was tolerating it ok. Until last week she has gone through constant cycling which has been difficult at times, but it is not constantly difficult. In other words, she has been able to continue with work, household, and family responsibilities. Well, this past week has been mostly a great week for her, with even some good mornings! How great is that?? Needless to say she is just overjoyed! She reached the all bad day/no good days left status a few months ago, especially bad with depression etc. This past week she has in her words *felt great for the first time in a long time!*. She has been cleaning her house for the first time in months, baking up a storm, loving it all and loving life......she said she had found that part of herself that she feared she was losing forever. I just can't believe this is the same sister! I wish I could hug her, but she is 3,000 miles away.

She realizes that she will indeed have more cycling, but just having
this wonderful window of feeling so great has given her all the motivation she needs to continue. And, from all that we have read and talked to others, the cycling hereafter should be lessen each time followed by even better and longer good windows. (Kirstee, are we understanding that correctly??)

My sister said even if it doesn't get any better than this she will still be thrilled to bits with the progress she has achieved. I am so happy for her I could cry. I have worried so much for her, not wanting her to get like me with this. She is 10 years younger with 2 grown sons with wives, and I want her to be able to enjoy being an active participating part of their lives. She lives 3,000 miles away, but we have talked online almost everday through this. I had sent her a copy of Dr. St. Amand's book, his DVD, and we have been able to be a good support system for each other. So, I have so much to be thankful for this thanksgiving day!

My progress has been less and a bit slower. I am 10 years older, with more accumulated excess calcium phosphate gunk in muscle tissue. As you know from prior posts I have regrettably been bedridden most of the time for the past 2 years. My sister has only had sporadic bedridden periods lasting a day or 2, very early warning signals. She became scared when she saw how bad I got, knowing then that she was following right behind me with the same DNA genetic pattern where I had followed my mother, and grandmother. I became unable to work, mostly bedridden, and with the help of a laptop started desparately looking for treatment options in hopes of finding something that might break the chain and help her and her children avert getting like me. I finally connected with Kirstee on this board who thankfully helped me to understand about the Guai Protocol. I dug out my St. Amand and started asking questions and learning. It really isn't as daunting as I had misbelieved it to be, and I am happy to answer any questions and help others who may be interested in this treatment option. I am now a personal patient of Dr. St. Amand's where I travel to monthly to his office in Marina del Rey, CA. You don't have to go to Dr. St. Amand or any other doctor to do this treatment. You can do it on your own! All of the information is there step by step instructions in the book, online, and even on threads here on this Board. Any questions, just ask

While I have not yet had the great success my sister has experienced, I have improved in 3 areas: 1) no longer have the constant severe hard spasming in the butt muscles; 2) the constant severe all over burning/searing muscle/skin tissue thing is less severe; and, 3) the constant rigor mortis feeling is much better. Hopefully, these improvements signal the beginning of a turnaround, and that it is not too late for me. Only time will tell.

What my sister and I, and thousands of others, have experienced since starting Guai is that it pulls the excess calcium phosphates out of the muscle tissue. That is what is causing the constant pain we feel with FM. Calcium causes muscles to contract. Constant contraction causes spasming and pain. Sorry to be so graphic here, especially on Thanksgiving, lol, but we actually see it in our urine. The Guai pulls it out of the muscles where it gets mostly excreted from the body through the kidneys. My sister has been seeing much more of it than me, and of course that explains why she is progressing so much better than me. I have 10 years more of concentrated gunk in my muscles But, in time I will hopefully experience the same good results.

The improvement schedule is estimated by Dr. St. Amand to be 2 months of the Protocol will reverse 1 year of FM buildup. My sister has been on it for 2 months, and she says that this week she has definitely feels as good or better than she did a year ago.

I will keep y'all posted on how this treatment is going for both of us so you can evaluate whether or not it is something that might work for you.

Happy Thanksgiving to all

Re: Sister's FM Improvement w/Guaifenesin Protocol

Hi Jam:

It's good to know your sister has improved. Since she is not so advanced as you, she is having great success. But not to worry, you will get better and better with time. The symptoms do become further and further apart as time wears on, just as you had stated in your post.

Blessings,
Kirstee

Re: Sister's FM Improvement w/Guaifenesin Protocol

Hi Kirstee, nice to hear from you again, yeah, she had a GREAT week lasting the entire week, no pain, no depression, felt great etc....this week, back to cycling again, but it is so far less intense for her than what it had been so she is really happy about that! I am hoping she will continue to do well.

I see Dr. St. Amand next week so I am anxious to see if there is any changes in my map at all. I still feel pretty bad so I am thinking there won't be much change, if any. But I have had improvements though one would never know it to look at me!

Good luck at your appt! Hugs
