Lyrica & Ultram? - Fibromyalgia Message Board

I have an appointment on Thursday afternoon. My fibro has been just terrible the last few weeks. The only thing I take for it is Ultram...50 mg., 3 times a day and it really helps unless I have an unusually vicious attack. I've been taking Ultram for three years.

I've heard wonderful things about Lyrica and wonder if anyone takes Ultram along with the Lyrica. I'd like to try it but I'm afraid to stop the Ultram because of the pain I feel this time of the year.

Any comments? Kate

Hello there, remember everybody is different... I was on the lyrica a couple of years ago as it was for restless leg syndrome when it first came out... I too have fibro and it did nothing for either one... However, it may work for you... Give it a try if that is what your doc wants you to try.... Different meds work for different people... Thank you for your quick response. I guess we're all looking every day for that one "magic cure" that will put an end to this painful, horrible disease. I've had fibro for many, many years and have tried everything that comes along....even old home remedies from long ago. Nothing has really worked for any length of time. I'm blessed to have a husband who can truly understand and is sympathetic for what I face every day. If I didn't have his support (and I know there are many who don't) I don't know how I could face it. He insists on going with me to doctor's appointments so that they really understand what I go through every day...he sees it. It has been invaluable to have him there and doctors seem more receptive to both of us and the whole situation. I'll let you all know what happens with my appointment. Kate
