Lately I've been noticing that my pain is much worse at night. I wake up feeling okay (just a few aches). I stand on my feet all day as a teacher. When I finally relax around 7:00, I start to notice the dull aching in my back/neck and some of the nerve pain (feet) and cramping (calves). The past couple nights, laying in bed has been bad. I can't lay on my sides or it hurts my arms, and I can't lay on my back because I get pressure in my head and aching in my shoulder blades. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this and, if so, what do you do?
May76, it makes sense that your hurting at night after being out and about from early in the morning,I was having problems sleeping also and I also could not lay on my sides,I spent the whole night tossing and turning.Ive got relief threw epidural shots in cervical and thorasic spine, and also started to takr Lyrica, since the lyrica i have been sleeping better and the nerve pain is now manageable,I still take break thre meds but the lyrica has really helped.I dont know how you manage the whole day,You should be very proud of yourself,I need a nap after 6 hours.Hope you find relief,Iam praying for you.have a Great day marywoo
Me too but most mornings l wake up aching and get alittle better for a while then it starts again just now lve had bad bother with upper back muscle spasms sacrum joint pain both sides hip pain aching neck and dizziness esp when lying down and turning to the left... l am not diagnosed. Take care x
May76, I hurt really bad in the morning, and it takes me about 2-3 hours to get going. Then I am not too bad for about the next 4-5, meaning I can do somethings, like clean, run errands, take a walk etc., and then around 2-3 pm I start getting sore again and need to take a rest. Then I can get dinner and clean so more, but I have to be careful and if I am on my feet too long, I have a lot of pain and in my feet and lower legs. Once I stop and sit, it is very hard for me to get up.
My medication helps me lot. I am on long acting o.c. and my pain cycle gets worse when the meds wear off. I do not get the full 12 hours, more like 8-9 hours, and that is usually around 4 pm, so I take my evening meds at that time, and then I can get dinner and clean.
It is always nice to talk to other people who are going through what we are.

Sorry it's painful. Yes, my pains are worse at night. It's been keeping me up till the wee hours every night for the past month, or even up all night. I can feel relatively fine most of the day, then about 7 or 8, I begin getting what can only be discribed as a "growing pains" kind of pain that is in/on both feet. It can begin as a dull ache, or come on like gangbusters. It progresses into deep to the bone burning cramps and can last for hours. Sometimes I can double up on my Tramadol and make it dull enough I can get to bed, but other times, forget it.
Hope you are not like this, and hope you don't hurt too bad when you do have pain.

Ishla first of im sorry for your night pains,I have experienced something similer and just wanted to ask are you taking perscription vit D?and wanted to tell you that was one of the worst pains Ive had with this mess, because you feel it down to the bone,I almost cried with that pain but think the Lexapro prevents thatany way to get to the point, I started steching out my calves and feet in the morning and before bed and Iam afraid to say this but here goes,I havent had that since streching,I didnt want to jinx myself, but maybe this will help you.I know how bad that hurts and i really am sorry your feeling I hope this helps. feel bettermarywoo
Thanks Marywoo, I appreciate your careing thoughts.
I stretch constantly, it's the only way I can keep my muscles from curling me up into a ball.. ick! I have been up all night tonight because we have a big rain storm rolling through here. My calves and thighs have been going into spasms and charlie horses all night. I am happy to say though, that it's been relatively mild, painwise. Oh, don't get me wrong.. it hurts!!, but it's been nothing like it usually is. Yes, I am taking prescription Vit. D right now, and the doctor said that after 3 months at this very high level, I can drop it off and just take over the counter D.
I am thinking that I may want to ask my doctor if he thinks maybe I can try a muscle relaxer. I also just found a 35% Capsaisin rub. I've only put it on one foot, just to see if it would burn me, but it didn't (woo hoo), and I didn't have the usual searing pain last nite... so maybe it's something good. I hope so.

Thanks for your support guys its appreciated and lm sorry if lve hijacked this post lol didnt mean too :9 take care all xxx
Niecsey, hate it you're having such a rough time right now. I hope you can change docs in a heartbeat if they leave you in that shape. I hate you're having to wait any time to see them. Is it possible to go get a massage somewhere today, maybe on one of those half off deals? Can you get that simply sleep stuff and maybe sleep through it? I wish there was a way I could hand you my entire arsenal here! Take care! And I'll be hoping with the rest for some way for that stuff to get backed off in your hips and back.
P.S. So far as pain worse at night... it's not even considered odd now at my house if I wait to do the dishes in the morning. I'm kind of like Kass, only better since Lyrica. Used to be it was understood I couldn't tolerate lights in the morning because of the headaches and I had to have at least three cups of coffee to function. I'm fine with lights in the morning now, but still need the coffee and Lyrica in the a.m. to get past the feet pain and shake off the fatigue. By the evening, my neck/shoulders are usually locked up and my arms/hands are awful at night.

Fatigue and pain are always worse at night for me. I just give it up after dinner and tell braveman (my hubby for all those who don't know, blue gave him that name during his illness) I'm done for the day. I just sit and crash and when I go to bed, I take my sleep meds and just wait for them to work. I hate it when they don't work!
Hi all just want to let you know lm feeling a little less pain today (wont hold my breath) and have been shopping nothing heavy.. thank you all for your support over the last few days x Mary we cant change docs easily in the Uk and with me having the 'thyroid probs' l guess another doc would be thinking along the same lines sadly... they told me it could take up to ayear to feel right after my surgery (july) l know its not my thyroid l will make sure when l do go l am assertive as possible and take with me my notes that should help!
