New to Lyrica

Hi, my Dr has finally put me on a nerve pain releiver-Lyrica 75 mg once a day for 5 days then 75 mg twice a day. First dose was last night. Does it make you feel kind of yukky and shaky when you first take it? It really helped with my hip pain but I still have other pain that it didn't touch. Can I take Celebrex or any other anti-inflammitory with it? Also I take 1 mg Clonazapam daily-do anti-anxiety meds interfer at all? I am happy he has finally listened to me but I'm kind of nervous. I have an appointment with a rhuematory specialist in September-I am looking forward to this appointment because I am always having roaming pain. One week one side of my body-the next the other side or my arms then my legs, my back then my hips and so on. It all wipes me out physically and mentally as well with my medications making me feel like a bit of a zombi as I am so tired and spaced out because I take antidepressants, lipidor, HRT, synthroid, metformin, altace, clonazapam and now Lyrica and prior every NSaid on the market. When once we were so flexible- Who knew???

Wink Re: New to Lyrica

Hi. I've been on Lyrica for about six months. I take 75mg in the morning, and 150mg at night for my peripheral nerve damage. It doesn't give me much relief. My rheumatologist also has me on celebrex. They seem to work well taken together. Sometimes I get frustrated with the Lyrica, because the pain is getting worse in my spine. I hope you get some relief from it. Best wishes, Kimmy

Re: New to Lyrica

Thanks Kimmy, that is what I was wondering if I could take something like celebrex with it. I only took it last night 75mg and it did seem to help with my upper leg big joints (they hurt so bad) but then I had a sore back and chest most of the day and didn't know what I could take.I will now take a celebrex

Re: New to Lyrica

Hi,

I took Lyrica (150 mg, 2x daily) for about 4 months for nerve pain due to disk damage in my neck. While it worked very well for the nerve pain, it actually made my FM pain much worse, especially at night. I also developed other side effects, including rapid weight gain (38 pounds in 6 weeks) and severe swelling. My doc switched me to Neurontin in May, and it's not as bad in terms of the side effects, but also not quite as good for the pain relief.

So, a couple of things. The drowsiness was overwhelming at first. I was napping every day, and that is not like me. It did eventually improve, although I still had days (especially if I did not sleep well the night before) where I felt very "out of it." The Neurontin isn't quite as bad.

Secondly, due to the long list of ailments I deal with, I also take sleep medications, anti-anxiety meds and NSAID's, along with an occasional Vicodin for breakthru pain. These meds include Ambien CR, Zanaflex or Flexeril, Promethazine (generic Phenergan, the anti-nausea medication), Mirapex (for Restless Legs Syndrome), Xanax, Relafen/Daypro/Celebrex (pick one). I think you'll be okay, just keep in touch with your body and head....and talk to your doctor so he/she knows what you're taking.

The Lyrica usually is either terrific or lousy for a person. I hope you find your use to be succesful. The drowsiness and fatigue should wear off in several weeks, so stick with it if you aren't having any other side effects.

Good luck, and keep us posted on how you're doing!

Blessings,
TexMom

Re: New to Lyrica

Yikes, i don't want to gain 38 pounds, I'm already struggling with that. What brings that on? I am really sore today from the top of my head to my big toe-down the front and back. I took one celebrex along with a flerill and I'll take another at bedtime. I am leary about lyrica
