Wow!!!!! - Fibromyalgia Message Board

This is the first forum where I can genuinely say I feel like people know what I go through on a daily basis. It's so hard to describe Fibro to people who do not have it. Typically people just say "oh everyone has that" "your getting older"

It's nice to know I am not alone.

Let me just start by telling you that, Although I have felt the symptoms for many years, I was just diagnosed with Fibromyalgia two years ago. As with many of you I am sure, I had felt sore an achey and tired for years, I had inexplicable pains here, there and everywhere. I spent many years blowing it off thinking I was just working to hard, or it was from (as I was told years ago with Lymes Disease) once you get Lymes it never really goes away, so I thought It was that, plus I had several neck and back injuries when I was younger, I attributed it to that etc......So finally after I mustard the strength to leave my husband who told me I was just making it up, I went to my doctors office (he was my doctor since the age of 12) he reviewed my files cover to cover -- started sending me to specialists and has diagnosed me with something I now know was not just my imagination.

i hope you find the compassion and understanding here that we all need. it is hard to explain any experience or health issue to someone who has not lived it.

The first time I found someone who actually believed my problems were real, well, I wept. At least I had somewhere to start researching and trying to find treatment and care. Although it is rotten thing to be diagnosed, it is so good to finally have some answers, isn't it? I am glad to hear your doc has kept himself up to date and was ready to listen and able to help you.

Unfortunately, many of us have suffered real loss and "damages" as a result of fibro, and it seems that you have had your share of that too. Come here anytime you have a question or just want to chat.

Welcome Jess, your story somewhat resembles mine. For years I ignore the little things, the achey pains, the stange pains, the wierd stuff. I just thought it was normal and didn't everyone get those. Like you I was told your not as young as you use to be or everyone feels like that. Like I said I thought everyone felt that way. Then I realized that people 10yrs. or more older than me, were doing a lot better than I was. I finally went to our family doc of 15yrs. and knowing me and my health he diagnosed fibro immediately. You can't explain it to people who don't experience it, but because of the commercials by the pharmaceutical companies more people recognize the name and don't think it is a psychiatric disease.

You are not alone and we are here to share, and listen, and offer info and to learn from your experience.

Do any of you get low grade fevers? I was told several years ago I might have a slight case of fibro but was never diagnosed with it. Had the usual muscle aches and pains and now my back is really bad. 7 herniated discs and DDD.
Just started have 99.8 fevers on and off for the last 6 weeks. Do the fevers
sound familiar? I am usually at 96.0. Thanks Linda
