hi im a 47year old male could you tell me if this is fibromalgia as ive been of work noe3 months with stiffness stabbing pains in legs arms shoulders and tiredness some days i can hardly move bin to see rhumatologist he said it was soft tissue rhumatism but put on the letter to my gp about fibromalgia could you let me know thanks nev.

Soft tissue rheumatism is a nice way of saying you have fibromyalgia. It is the soft tissues that develop the pain, with rheumatism it refers to the joints, former breaks in bones that kind of thing. The arthritis foundation recognizes fibro and if you search online for symptoms of fibro and then for arthritis you will see the difference I mentioned. Has the rheumy or your doc given you any suggestions or medications to relieve your pain?

Hi Noddy!

A couple of good books to read: "From Fatigued to Fanatastic" by Teitlebaum, and "What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Fibromyalgia" by St. Amand. When you are first learning about FMS, it can be a bit challenging, so educating yourself will really help.
