CFS turn into fibro or vise versa? - Fibromyalgia Message Board

Thinking back to some of the first symptoms of my fibro, it seems as though it may have started out as CFS. The main symptoms at first for me at first was fatigue followed by pain/achiness. But I remember that the fatigue was horrible and I would always take naps and nod off in class. I also has sore throats (strep throat) a lot before or right at the beginning of fibro. I do have hypogycemia and at the time of onset I was a server and was using so much energy and not eating right so that played a major part in it. Since then however, the pain seems to be the first complaint which causes fatigue. I haven't really had sore throats like I did in the beginning. I read that sore throats are a part of CFS. Anyway, I was just thinking about how all of this started. Anyone's thoughts?

Is that like which came first the chicken or the egg.....giggle! Fibro and CFS go so hand in hand it would be hard to know the answer to that question. For me fibro is the primary and CFS would be the secondary.

I agree with Glojer. To say which was first is like saying measels does not have spots. CFS is part of the whole dang syndrome.

Glojer, before I read your post I thought about the chicken and egg thing too! Wow, fibro brains unite! LOL

Actually I have had 2 of my docs say that they are often a hand in hand type of malfunction in the body. I can't figure out if my fatigue comes from the brain injury, thryoid disease, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, sleep apnea, or insert here something else as my brain just froze.

I have never been outright dxed with CFS, but my stepmom has and we have almost identical symptoms. She is 21 years older and still gets around better than me, that stinks....lol.

hello all,

for me the fibro was most prevalent at first, the pain was gradually becoming debilitating and about a year and a half into it i realized that i was never feeling refreshed after sleeping and most days i am SO weak. eventually my doctor said that he believed that i have cfids too, although i didn't seem to even be fatigued at first (i did have anxiety though). so for me it seems to have started with the fibro/ muscle pain and spasms. after seeing so many doctors and being at a much better place with the fibro, now i need to find help for the chronic fatigue, so far i feel like my life is passing by as i can never get any energy back, (though i have found that mate' tea helps for short periods of time).

ps shortcake i too have hypoglycemia as well as endometriosis. i have found it interesting to read the various co-existing symptoms that seem to come along with the fibro for many of us
