| Re: Fibromyalgia and Doctors
I feel so bad for those of you that have to endure this kind of pain. How do you do it? I think I'd go insane. Find another Doctor quick! You're looking for help to improve your quality of life, and there's help out there. There are people on this board who've went through years of disappointment, agravation and depression, along with the pain, before they finally found help. Now, more and more doctors are becoming educated about the truth and severity of symptoms of Fibro. I got lucky that my doctor treats Fibro and jumped on board with me as soon as he'd ruled out all other causes. He prescribed me Lryica (works great for me, but there is a steep price to pay in the cost of side-effects and it doesn't work at all for some people), almost at the onset of my pain. I have my first appointment with a Rheumy in November and I'm hoping I'll luck out with him to. My Doc says he (the Rhuemy) believes in Fibro. I asked. I also called the Rheumy's office and asked if they have patients with Fibro and are being treated for that. I got an affirmative, so I have high hopes.
Wish you guys all the luck! Oh, and keep in mind, you probably won't be diagnosed until they rule out everything else. What have you been tested for? Maybe you need to ask your Doc to rule out everything else before he sends you home without any help. Let us know how it goes.
