Cheek bone and ear pain?

Hi all,
Just this afternoon i was sitting having a chat with my sister when all of a sudden i got the most awful sharp pain across my cheek bone and up into my ear, and it has been coming and going since 1:00pm today, i have had ear pain before and my GP(great help he is) gave me some antibiotics and told me only to use them if the pain got any worse because it might be an ear infection, anyhow i never got the script reason being i went with ear pain not an ear infection.
The past few days i have also had pain in my ribs, it is the most uncomfortable i have been in a long time, it seems to be coming from round the back under my shoulder blades then travelling round to the ribs,
anyone else have these pains just curious they are quite new to me, any answers are most welcome.

Thanks

Karen

Re: Cheek bone and ear pain?

Are you sure the rib discomfort isn't related to the heart?
If you are, then it could be costochondritis (there are many posts in the fibro boards about this). If you're not, call your doctor just to make sure.

Cheek bone and ear- could be sinus related. I'd suggest nasal irrigation, but that might be uncomfortable if you have ear issues.

Re: Cheek bone and ear pain?

Yes, I get this pain quite often. Also, in my jaw and my teeth even hurt. The ear pain is sharp and stabbing. It's horrible! I had my teeth, TMJ, and ears checked by specialists, and it's all fine according to them, so I assume it's another fibro pain.

It is very hard to take, probably the worst of all the pains I have had. Even pain meds don't touch it. Eventually it stops, then starts up again days, weeks or even months later like all other fibro pains.

Re: Cheek bone and ear pain?

Thanks for the replies ladies, i will get all this checked out at the Dr's, the ribs or just under the ribs is terrible and it goes round my back to just under my shoulder blades, trouble is at our Dr's you have to know you are going to be ill 2 weeks in advance to get an appointment great eh!

Re: Cheek bone and ear pain?

I know alot about the rib pain since I have it quite often. Mine goes through my ribs from one side to the other. Feels like I'm being run through with a lance. It takes my breath away. Also, under my sternum, through my back. I've had quick, sharp pains in my cheek and behind the eye socket on my right side. Also in my nose. Feels like I keep getting punched in the nose over and over.

That's the problem with fibro! So many different kinds of pain. Since I've had my whole body checked out, I just chalk it all up to fibro.

Re: Cheek bone and ear pain?

hollo! if you look at the work of dr devin.j.starlanyl - she has done incredible work with fibro and myofascial pain syndrome (best i have seen). i found her references and info on fibro UK. it sounds as if the pain in your face is mps and it is well documented elsewhere as co existing with fibro.
hope this helps as i also experience this.
